We are normally abroad for Easter in the van, usually Spain or Germany but as we are bookended by 2 other family holidays, it’s 10 days in Scotland for us!

Weather looks actually not too bad, mix of sunshine and showers, was quite warm when we packed up at the storage area this morning.

We are starting off with a few days in St Andrews, so we stopped off at Balgove Larder, a great farm shop with a super cafe.

We are now safely ensconced on our full service pitch at Craigton Meadows, right beside the country park and with the local bus stop at the entrance.

It’s all a bit slopy but the levellers coped (just!). Not bad for £30 a night in Easter week.

Been a lovely day up here on the East Coast, town is full of tourists, lots of golfers on the links hoping to play like Rory!

Americans everywhere, we got caught up in a party of them whilst looking round the castle.

Had a lovely lunch very lunch in a chip shop/restaurant called Tailend, they also own the fishmongers so great choice and everything fresh that morning. Had lovely prawns, scallops and delicious monkfish washed down by a very nice New Zealand Sauvignon, not your usual chippy!!

My son is at uni at St Andrews - it’s a lovely place to visit. He gets student golf membership so plays a different course each week. Such a privileged existence! We love the Balgove larder too. Try the Cottage Kitchen for lunch if you’re staying. Enjoy!

Our younger daughter graduated from St Andrews in 2009, weeks sent her this photo to remind her of past great times!

How did you manage a pitch at Craigtoun Meadows for £30 a night ? when I checked just now the cheapest is £40 per night,

Alan.

We've just got home last night after a 700mile North East Scotland tour, loosely following the NE250, throughly enjoyed it and the weather was absolutely fantastic.
St Andrews was our last visit yesterday lunch time, after eventually finding somewhere to park, it was a very pleasant town but how do all those golf shops survive!

They often have offers or special deals on their website, we paid £122 for our 4 night stay, as you say it’s a minimum of £40+ now. The touring fields are fairly busy, but certainly not full.

Well yesterday was spent over in Dundee, about 30 mins by bus over the Tay Bridge, weather cloudy but great views out to sea.

We got off by the railway station as we wanted to visit the V&A design centre down on the waterside. It’s an amazing place, personally I’m not convinced by the design, but inside it’s amazing, lots of exhibits and things for kids to do. There is also a fantastic cafe/bar which does great food.

Next to the V&A is the Discovery which was very popular with visiting families.

Dundee also has some beautiful architecture, The Caird Hall is lovely and there are wonderful churches, there is also lots of street art celebrating its famous Comic characters.
