Just wanted to get the thoughts of you fungi’s on the subject of choosing an
e bike to take in the MH?
I’ve got a 5 Year old 20” wheeled folding rear hub job with the 10A brick battery down behind the seat. Weighs 23kg with battery and gives around 25 miles.
The likes:
Reasonable weight, easily stored in garage, not very appealing to thieves.
Dislikes:
The motor feels quite noisy in populated areas, seem to get overtaken by everyone.
Has anyone had the small 20” and a full sized 26”e bike that could shed some light on their pros and cons?
I’m thinking, possibly in error, that the larger e bike is more efficient than the smaller one. Giving better cruising speed and better range for the same effort??

Inetresting thread as we are looking for ebikes.

However, we want to try and get a two-seater one. There are some out there but they are (I suppose unsurprisingly) enormous. Has anyone else got a two seater?
Have a look at Tern - they do cargo bikes with extra seats so you can carry a pillion passenger. I'd like one (they also do a dog carrier and the bikes are great for e.g. supermarket runs) but we're dithering whether a scooter (Piaggio) would work better for us - can't justify both!

I bought a S/H ET4 scooter, equipped with a large shopping box, and hung it on the back of the B640.
Worked for us.

Nice, and bookmarked, but I'd rather not pay quite that much if I can avoid it.

We have a couple of Gocycles. Had them about 3 years now and been very impressed with the bikes and the customer support.

Col de telegraphe just adore last years TdF
Ok small wheels, don’t go as fast as my carbon speedster but it was 30+ & the back rack had a bag on it & pulled my fat belly & 10 kg of water up the mountain quicker than the Lycra boys who I used to be a member of club.
I wouldn’t do the TdF on it (although there was a mad Brit in tweed incl flat cap doing it on a non elec Brompton). It as a get a bout a bit bike it’s comfy, can get all my shopping (I call it my shopping trolly as it gets folded & pushed around like one) in/on it, I can do 40 miles & take on public transport.
Ok it’s not as much fun as my road or mountain bikes, but it does what I want it to do & I don’t have to put it on the rear rack, it fold small enough to go under my bed & I don’t feel it gonna go walkies without my permission.
