DVSA targeting campers this weekend,

Ive never understood why caravans and car trailers arent required to have an MOT, even if it just said the tyres are not rotten and the lights actually work.

My understanding is that the EU wanted us to have them here in the UK like on the Continent from a safety aspect but groups like the CAMC & CACC we’re opposed to it on behalf of their members incurring additional expense! Then the UK were also opposed to it because there was no infrastructure to do all the trailers & add them to the system and to create one would be too expensive! So cost won out over safety and this is where we are now & no longer a member of the EU

No reason not to test caravans and have a security sticker to show when last tested. Different colour each year like the old tax discs. But the sticker designed to fall apart if you try to remove it. Then cant be stolen and used on another untested trailer

Like the Swiss motorway tax sticker, those things don't come off except in little pieces
