Prices or red tape?Imported 4/12/ 2020, Not really worth importing 2nd hand now.
Price.Prices or red tape?
Or can the owner of the second hand one claim that as German VAT was paid whilst we were still within the EU no further VAT is due on transferring it to the UK? Could he then sell to the UK buyer as a VAT paid UK registered motorhome?Price.
An example, German buyer buys Motorhome, pays his 19% German VAT on top of purchase price, later decides to sell, buyer from UK comes along and buys 2nd hand, exports to UK (from 1/1/21) has to pay 20% on top of purchase price to HMRC.
If the same UK buyer buys new from the EU, lets stick with Germany for sake of continuity, for export to UK, no 19% German VAT is paid, but of course the same 20% will be due to HMRC on import to UK.
Hence, better to buy new.
You're going the wrong way around.I'm still waiting to hear from them in a meaningful way and will be making a formal complaint when I have my licence.
That's what makes it a mockery sending anything 'recorded signed for'I think someone is having you on. This multi story building is enormous and probably has sacks full of mail daily. There are just short of 5,500 people employed there. During the COVID pandemic, affecting staff as it has, I guess emails were the last thing on their minds, and contrary to your jibe, have been invented (your words) and do exist here in Swansea. I’m sure delivering mail to all these people in his horse and cart would take him at least two weeks.
But that makes no difference to the UK buyer, who still only pays the UK vat regardless of any German vat being paid or not.Price.

At least you have proof that they received it and the tracking shows the route and timings of the intermediate stages in the delivery process. That's what makes it a mockery sending anything 'recorded signed for'
They can't search and sign every piece of post so simply sign by the bag/batch whether your letter is there or not.
Surely, that's the real question. Not that I know the answer. But I would like to.Or can the owner of the second hand one claim that as German VAT was paid whilst we were still within the EU no further VAT is due on transferring it to the UK? They always have a fallback " & when we opened the letter there was nothing inside it"At least you have proof that they received it and the tracking shows the route and timings of the intermediate stages in the delivery process.
