Morning all.

Just venting my frutrations.... In a nut shell we've recently had our van uprated to accomodate our weight needs. Both the Wife and I had to do our HGV/LGV Theory tests as well as take a C1 practical test. Done. I fitted air suspention and upgraded the tyres. SV Tech carried out paperwork side of things. On 28 October I sent V5c and SV Tech certificate/Paperwork to DVLA for new logbook to show new MAM. Nothing heard for 28 days. Phoned DVLA, transferred to MOD 2 Agent who advised that the paperwork was only opened that day. I pointed out that it's taken 4 weeks to open the mail. Post date stamp proved this. He offered no explanation as to why its been sat on a desk for a month. He advised he could do nothing for 10 days - call back. Just phoned back this morning (10 days later) and confirmation the change has been made. Expect paperwork in 10-14 days. SERIOUSLY WTF..... We are heading off to Europe next monday for 90 days. The best the agent said was to phone back Friday and he'll be able to send me a scan for me to print off.

Great. Heading off to France and Spain now, half expecting Mr Plod to pull me over and weigh me and all I've got is a colourful bit of A4 paper which anyone could replicate.

Anyone else experienced this? I think 50 days waiting for docs is a bit overkill. I wonder if DVLA would be happy if I kept them waiting 50 days for anything?

Rant over.

Have a good one funsters.

She has now moved on ...

Sadly it's the Blob. For all their talk I can't see this administration being able to change it. The last had no chance.
It's not just DVLA. Sue had a letter telling her she was due a tax rebate. I went on line to claim it. As she doesn't do internet banking she requested a cheque. All done and the message said she should receive it by January 20th...40 days! To raise a cheque?

Just on a positive note. I had to call the DVLA on the phone and got through almost straight away to someone. I actually called twice and spoke to someone within 2 minutes.( after all the recorded messages)

Are you certain you have contacted the tax folks .
There are a lot of fake emails about saying you have tax due and direct you to a scammer.

I raised a complaint with my MP last time I had dealings with DVLA. Mysteriously, the MPs question was never answered as my issue had been resolved the day before the MP raised the complaint, very convenient. But I got my V5 a few days later.

I would take the proof of upgrade, paperwork and list of phone calls with you as well as the scanned copy of the V5 and emails etc. that way you can show when the van was upgraded, when you to the tests, when the application went in etc. if stopped you at least will have all bases covered and they should leave you in peace.

I recently complained to DVLA after they gave me back my C1 following a six month ban due to heart problems and six months later took it off me again
I complained and they admitted that they should never have given me my C1 back at all, it was an administrative error.
and as a gesture of goodwill they gave me £50!

I complained formally to DVLA twice about the time and inaccurate processing of my C1; never had a reply to either complaint so complained about that ..still waiting for any reply that answers any of my points . 6 months on ...

They probably don't remember where they put the cheque book 😂

The new weight will show on the DVLA website under "Dvla vehicle check"

Check if your new weight is on there. If it is, save the web page as a Favourite so you can access it immediately if required.

That is where any Authority will check if you are stopped.

So. Never had a proper job in the real commercial world. Ideal material for her next job after the CPS. Prime Minister.

Honestly you couldn’t make it up. All with Gold Plated Pensions.

I can't fault the DVLA.
They issued an age-related registration number to one of my motorcycles that we knew didn't have a chance of getting one - I gambled £110 (non-refundable first registration fee + 12 months road tax) and won! SORN'd it immediately and got a £50 refund 4 days later.
Took our private plate off the MX5 prior to sale and got the replacement V5 (with it's original registration number) back in 2 days.
Another "dodgy" age-related request sent yesterday - here's hoping for 3 out 3!

Unfortunately its not there. But it does say a new v5 was issued yesterday....

How quick was it from application of undertaking the c1 to passing the test? How much time between booking the MoHo in and the work being carried out? The wait is normally a few weeks or even a month or so so why would you expect the DVLA time line to be different ?

We live in a 3 mouse click world and expectations of things happening fast even some goods I have orders for Christmas will take 5 days to get here.

Just asking not criticising…totally get its frustrating but you and I have no idea of the work load the DVLA has and even phoning to check your paper details may have been logged in to a queue but will be processed in strict order.

The DVLA requested a peripheral eye test when my wife applied for her C1 which she had done immediately. After ten weeks and no response from the DVLA despite written complaints they suddenly decided that the first test was not up to their standard and demanded another. After that it took them two weeks to process the test results and OK the C1 license.
