Just back from local MOT garage (class 4)
Really nice guy says because it's the vans 2 Nd MOT he can't test it ?
Shows me online MOT screen enters reg no.YOU CAN NOT TEST THIS VEHICLE.
I said Don't rules say you test it as what you see ?
Yes
What do you see
Motorhome
So under the you test what you see rule ,can you test it ?
Yes
But the system won't let me change it except at its first test,so I can't test it !It's a class 7
He saw a motorhome,2 customers came in I asked them what they saw both said from 75 meters away motorhome.
When I applied to DVLA they said a member of the public would see a van with windows,
Despite it having camping scene graphics on all sides, awning solar panels full body graphics, numerous stainless steel vents .
Off to get it booked for a class 7 test now.

Solution2
It clearly said on his MOT screen YOU CAN NOT TEST THIS VEHICLE on a red background,he said he had tried to change that but the system would not allow him to.
I will find out next week when it goes to a class 7 station I will ask them to test it as a motorhome class 4 and see what they say.
I think that he is inputting the details and the system knows it was a class 7 before and he hasn’t got class 7 test facilities.
Needs to manually input details first.
My pick up has had a class 7 MOT in between other class 4 tests.
Dvla mot check will not show test details for any plated (over 3500kg) vehicle as those records are held by DVSA

That shouldn't matter as your camper is NOT a class 7, it's a class 4.

Whatever you do , do not have it motd as a class 7 you're just creating more problems for yourself.
Class 7 is 3001kg to 3500kg

My PVC is due it's first MOT soon. I notice that when I go to the DVLA website, it says 'date of first MOT: not known'.

And it won't let me set a text reminder. It says 'There was a problem. We don't hold information about this vehicle.'

But when I check out my wife's car, it correctly knows that it's not due until 2026.

Something is clearly different on their records - I'd expect both to be class 4.

This thread has made me realise I may need to be very specific about testing as class 4 when the PVC has it's MOT.
Is yours a factory conversion or diy conversion? , does it state motorcaravan on the v5 or something else.

I find most of the mot guys have issues when it has anything other than motorcaravan on the v5 because they somehow do not understand the test as presented rule.

The guy who does my mot's claimed its because of the constant changes from vosa and the changes not being clear. ...who knows.

But any good mot tester should know the score .
