DVLA is this a Joke?

Bunch of idiots, i have just up rated the weight of mine so sent logbook off and got it back with incorrect details so need to send it back again, i even put a covering letter in explaining what was required

Just pathetic the lot of them

Have to agree with the majority here - DVLA do a good job

I have 5 vehicles to tax, personal pates to move around, l have applied for V5s on a frame number & had them call me to check details, have applied to change 2 vans to motor caravans all done quickly & effectively

I wonder how many who post on here, who have issues, have not filled out the forms correctly, sent forms to the wrong address, etc and then blame the DVLA?

Battling with DVLA now....trying to get imported van registered...have to do it by post....cheque or postal order for tax....tore up cheque book about a year ago as didn’t think any organisation would be so antiquated as to not allow debit card. SO off to post office to stand in a queue of coughing wheezing Covid sufferers ?.
Don’t think they’ll get a 13th year accreditation.

Ahhh, you fell for the technology comfort blanket when you thought cheque books would become obsolete? I've still got cheque books and pay just a few suppliers that way. I've also got my old fax machine in the loft cause that'll never become victim of a virus and it's up there just in case. Or am I just a hoarder?

Strange how some have problems and some don't.

Luck of the draw? or different departments/staff?

They can't cope with anything out of the norm, if computer says no, you've had it.

First van we registered no problem but they had local offices, when they did away with local offices they never increased the staff by enough to cope with the extra workload at DVLA.

2nd van we registered (after local offices closed), they rejected my application saying the VAT wasn't paid when it was. As they know their computers take a few days to sync with HMRC why didn't they just wait or contact me, no they just reject it.

Even more stupid when you fill out the application form they ask for a phone number and an email address but they never bother to contact you if there is a problem, they just reject the application.

On my last van I uprated the weight it took them over 4 months to get it right.

As I said in my previous post, DVLA called me when I was applying for a V5 based on a frame number (VIN in today's parlance) & were very helpful

So you "tore up your cheque book" and it's the DVLA's problem? I kept mine - just in case I needed it ?

Plus, I'm not sure you can blame post office queues & Covid on the DVLA???

Ah, but at least you’ll have something to do while we are all in lockdown.

In fact, I think they’ve done you a favour having something to focus on!

I myself am about to update the van rating and look forward to numerous potential comings and goings with DVLA over the next few months; it should keep them, and me, entertained for a while!

Oh, and just remember, “the lot of them” didn’t actually work on your application, perhaps only one person did, so it is a bit of a sweeping statement to classify all the staff at DVLA as idiots.

I should not have to mess about re sending it due to their incompetence, they should know what is required they shouldnt need me to tell them

It’s a bit like the banking investigation a few years back to ascertain wether the banks and bank charges are fair. Result , yes it’s all fair and above board ......The people doing the investigating, Bankers !

Like the IPCC or Professional Standards with the old bill then?....

No don’t blame DVLA for my stupidity at tearing up my cheque book....but DO blame them for not allowing me to pay by Debit Card like every other organisation in the country....and DO blame them for making me go to the post office and risking Covid (catching it OR passing it on)...and worse of all DO blame them for making me pay £12.50 for a Postal Order...wouldn’t even let me pay cash !.......

Of course if any DVLA bods are reading this (especially anybody dealing specifically with my case)...I would just like to point out that very recently my identity and passwords were stolen and this is being written by an imposter....I personally think they are a great organisation and they should be given Customer Service Accreditation until 2050 and Lenny HB is just a moaning windbag....
