Hi Guys,

Just starting to embrace my new motorhome, and buying all kind of space and collapsable items, for dollie. Just wondering what is the best thing to sleep in, Duvets are far too large, and where do you store a 15 tog duvet in a motorhome for 2, without overhead sleeping to store them ? sleeping bags, far too restrictive for my irritable leg syndrome, so anyone out there with suggestions, on a new camper lady. Also, sleeping bags, need to be washed, and their huge, I like a bed linen twice a week at home ! hahaha thank you so much guy s

Not in the motorhome, but at home I inherited small (2ft 6in) stacked single beds with an upholstery material cover to let them serve as a sofa. There are two single duvets in matching material rolled fairly tightly ( but easily) along the back like bolsters.

Thanks guys for all the advise, but no one has suggested Where all the above is stored ? Lockers in the peugot Boxer 2 seaters, Stardream, are very small, one large cupboard, where the table etc is stored, but i suspect that is the only place left for a duvet or sleeping bag
Get a battery operated vacuum thingy from Aldi & their vacuum bags & they go down to nothing (ish).
I use duvet from homescapes it’s silk & @ 4.5 tog soooo warm & snug

Then where to store the vacuum  a compression bag is much smaller.

The night owl sleeping bags i linked to in post #20 above comes with a matching stuff bag which could be used as a daytime cushion if you have no storage space.

Perhaps consider all seasons duvets. They come in two parts and press stud together for maximum TOG in colder weather.
At least that way, you would only carry the bulk you need, so in the summer, just the thinner duvets

BTW we prefer two singles rather than a double. Much more comfy.

We use 4.5 tog feather and down. I bought a king size in the sale and split into two nice sized singles. Then you can use single duvet covers which are much easier to wash. I put thin IKEA mattress protector down first, then I have made sheets from off the roll cotton sheeting, about the size of single duvet cover but open across the top edge and all down one side. The closed edge at the bottom stops any cold air coming in and feet sticking out, if like us, you are vertically challenged!
Our lounge area sofas/ beds are covered in the day by throws.
So in very cold weather we have sheets, duvet, throw but of course can be just sheet snd duvet, or just sheet when hot.
One set of bedding together with the protector will roll up and go in a pillow case of your choice to make a daytime lounging cushion. Ours will push in an overhead locker but we can leave out. Being fussy, I have a different pillow case for nighttime that has not been sat on all day!

All our bedding was sourced from Dunelm, other than our Airsprung mattress topper (Amazon).👍

Some of the specialist bedding companies have eye watering prices.

We have a fixed bed, but a stuff bag that you can put your quilt in and roll up would work. We use them on our motorcycles.👍

Just to give you an idea…….

I've got a couple of duvalays going spare, haven't used them since we got a fixed bed but we found them ideal in the u-shaped lounge set up.

STOP buying stuff you will spend a fortune, remember if your single there is noone home when your away use the house stuff until you really know what you need. hard to do when you so excited

Bedding
double quilt lots to keep you warm and snug if you put it away every time get a big vacuum bag it will reduce to 1/4 of the size but you will probably stop bothering depending on your layout
I used sheets but am changing over to a single quilt covers on my soft mattress cover so much easier just roll up and quilt cover again vacuum bags can be your best friend
The bedding is the same colour as I use at home but do tend to keep certain sets for the van
Pots and pans
Take them from home until you decide what you really need
Cutlery
ususally comes in sets for 6 take one or two of each from home

There is a pattern here forming
I have silly little gas bottles (exchange ) so bought 1 extra as a spare as £500 to fit underslung or £300 to refillable is a lot but I have a silly small gas cupboard so limited

Ask the experts how much stuff they have bought and never used (even they buy interesting things)

I have been advised to get a ridgemonkey and its on my list (grill sauspan)

If you have not got a bike get a cheapy to start to see if you will use it

Finally dont for get your sun hat the dafter the better it is a necessity

Hi there all above about where to STore a Duvet, covers, and pillows in a small 2 seater Boxer M/H ! HAHA.

I think a neat freak like me, needs to store it probably into a large plastic topper bag, (that u usually purchase them in) and store it in the well of the front seat, as I will be driving mostly on my own, so that area will be redundant during the night. I don't want to look at my bed every day sadly, just want to keep it looking more like a lounge, then a bed at night, Maybe a little ?OCD, so realise, I might need to bring my standards down slightly to enjoy this life on the road when I retire though! But I will struggle on that one probably.
But I truly APPRECIATE all your help with this problem, or not a problem, I will let you all know on my first trip out at the end of January 2023 !

I have a Duvalay but it would be an expensive purchase if you find that you don't like it so it might be better to try someone else's first. ( I don't snore. :giggler: )
That's a new chat up line.

I cannot work out whether you have bought a MH.

Your Avatar says 'Looking' but post says 'New motorhome'.

If you are still looking and this aspect is important to you then surely you need to build the bedding and storage of it into the choice of MH?

It certainly was in my specification that I wanted a fixed bed, king-sized, therefore the bed has a duvet just like at home and the bed stays made up. Same with the drop-down king-size if we use it sometimes.

I know everybody cannot afford that layout, but they are thee at under £39K.

Sleeping bags - every time. Tried the quilt option (have O/H cab bed storage during the day) but it was bulky and what with all the beds being used, that was a lot of pillows, sheets and quilts. The sleeping bags for me have the advantage of being easy to pack and, like layers of clothing, are versatile in cold, not so cold or warm weather. They can also be zipped together to form a double.

I´ve found them easier to air as well - in the summer I would try to air as frequently as possible. On some occasions, the bags came down from the improvised line to be replaced by the day's beach towels and vice versa.

Have to say that I don't know what I'd do with the bedding in my older van if I didn't have the O/H cab...
