Dusseldorf show 2018

Did you see the price of the paint on the 920EK Martin?
Speaking to the German sales lady you can now have any colour you want.
Not sure if she said it is sprayed by BMW or they use their paint but over 14k! and the buffalo hide interior is another 4K+, although very nice.

Back today for another walk around.

That's a good idea. I don't understand why motorhomes are predominantly white or similar.

Because they struggle to paint properly!

Did say to her that I see they have dropped the champagne/silver option from their list and that’s when she said you can now have any colour you want.
Must be let out to another firm to paint after all the issues they have had before!!

Wonder how much a wrap would be
Cheaper than 14k!

N+B now have a good paint firm down the road, who have painted mine now, and I have to say its as good as any mainline production car, the clear coat is like glass and the preparation correct as I have had no reoccurrences of substrate issues for nearly 18 months. However having a van in any colour would I suspect make resale hit and miss if the first owner had some weird idea on colour choice, even if he thought it was great and everyone would like it?

There are a lot of wrapped cars out there now. I wonder how it does in the long term? Is it better for stone chips? How easy to get the flies off it etc?

Told us the same about the paint. Think We will stick with white:LOL:

Well the aluminium sides come on a roll already powder coated and the other moulded bits come fro Turkey or wherever and they are all made with the same white Gelcoat so it saves a lot of problems with stocking and order processing.

Just in case anybody is at the Messe but doesn’t realise, the shuttle bus that takes you to the show stops on the evening and then changes to running backwards and forwards the old town.

As there are a few funster on site I would offer a get together tomorrow evening at our van (weather depending) but we might not be back from a day in town so watch this space for confirmation (y) I will post location if we are going to be in.

Yes, I understand the construction technique but with regard to the powder coated aluminium you can get that product in any colour. Obviously if its a bespoke colour its going to cost... which is why £14K is required to do so. I would have thought though that once people start requesting colours it will become obvious which are popular and then a production run could be started.

Bit of a shortage of show pics this year Martin, not so much of interest?

Vario in the Stellplatz looks interesting though, Not seen one with an RV style door before. Is it on a pusher? I always find the walk through the stellplatz interesting.

Nouvelle kitchen in the Morelo Loft Premium line so gets the Palace bathroom and kitchen and the new light wood finish option (y)

Martin

Edit. PS 8.7 metres or 200mm the wrong side of 8.5

So, the big question Martin.... have you been tempted to buy? :)

Not as expensive as it looks;)

There is not a simple yes or no answer to that, we are still trying to piece together a van from the best bits of all of them, a Morelo 80H still looks good at 8.2 metres but as it’s a transverse bed and they don’t sell many they didn’t have one at the show and we need to make sure we are OK with that bed. The Morelo Loft Premium looks really good actually but no transverse bed option so 8.7 metres.

The Vario star still looks fantastic but I have to conclude it is too much money.

Didn’t like Carthago or Hymer. Concorde were OK but not really for us.

N+B Flair kitchen is too small other than the new one which is huge but then the van is too big.

Told you there was no simple answer, think we need go to the Morelo factory and drive something and see if that motivates us as really at the moment the best van is actually the one we have:LOL: and it won’t cost us anything to keep it.

Is it a clever paint job?

Must be!

I collect Mulberry handbags and, sometime ago, they did a standard oak coloured Bayswater bag which had a large dark ink stain on it in one corner... every girl's nightmare! I think the idea is that its ironic.

Yes, sometimes its best to stick with the one you know and love!

Just out of interest Martin, what would you say is the difference between Morelo and Concorde. Is it purely the styling, the price, the construction, the layouts they offer???

Whenever I look at the brochures they look pretty much the same other than subtleties in the styling - which is obviously down to personal taste.

A wrap I think, it’s gett some looks as people walk past it.

Martin

It reminded me of that guy who came on here who had an unintentional wavy back to his Hymer. It was all very strange and, as far as I know, he never came back to give the end story.

I think this one's great though... take's nerve to do something like that!

All the Hymers in the show have the same marks where the furniture fixes, sometimes really quite pronounced.

Well of course it’s all down to personal preference and we are all different, construction I would say not a lot to choose between them, little things like on the latest Palace they have integrated the awning into the roof moulding but the other side of that is that it is very high up, the Concorde dashboard is quite curvey and you can have it leather covered to match you upholstery which is nice, the Morelo dash is much squarer and black, Morelo certainly have more kitchen space and they offer more layouts starting with a 8.19 metre Palace with a transverse bed but of course that is not everyone’s “cup of tea”, the Charisma starts at 8.6 metres,

On the Morelo Palace you can have a wider front axle which they say makes a big difference to the ride but not sure if Concorde an fit it as it might be a Meier,

The Loft range with Morelo is quite extensive and offers a different cupboard style with flat doors where the new Palace is more like the Concorde with curved doors, I would say that the Loft trumps the Carver for choice especially as they have just launched the Loft Premium which gets the Palace bathroom and Kitchen,

Concorde have of course been around longer but Morelo are very “go ahead” and obviously gunning for a chunk of the market.

You pays your money and takes your choice as they are very close.

Much more pronounced on silver/gold finish also that particular model appeared to be the worst case.

Yes thats the classic MAN coach based pusher but havent seen the later shape as a pusher. Didnt look overlong either. So yes more interesting in the stellplatz than the show then? Edit. Could be tempted to move house for a nice pusher vario but don't tell Sue
