OK show tickets and camping booked, ferry out of Harwich to Hook of Holland and back via Dunkirk and Dover for a change (Hull Zeebrugge wanted a fortune).

Anybody else going?

Martin

Have a great time over there, I,m sure you will be tempted by a nice Morelo, Vario or Concorde.
The worst part of our 2 weeks away recently was the rushing back from Dover as work called, 330 miles for us. The Amsterdam-Newcastle ferry is a stones throw away but you are correct, do they want a fortune or what for the privilege.

Who else is going then? it's getting closer so I am getting excited now(y)

I hadn't realised the date for the show otherwise I'd have made my way to it to look at the Morello Palace again.

No Problem I think you will get a second chance on that one at the NEC but you won't see much else there;)

Mrs Fast broke leg so longer holiday in van that was planned has been binned, I'm flying out solo on Tuesday back Friday.
Shouldn't really have given that a "like" hope you are back on your feet soon Mrs Fast, might see you in the halls fastpat.

Martin

Calm down dear, it's only a big shed full of salesmen promising the impossible.
We have been looking that long I can take or leave the sales patter. I might be out of Yorkshire but will still be a Yorkshire man;)

We’re off on Friday for a couple of days, flying in. Looks like they have it sorted with free travel from the airport to the venue. Hoping to put deposit down on new a class.

If you have booked your entrance tickets online and printed them that gets you on the local transport for free.

Have fun, do you have a short list?

Pilote/Bavaria are showing their new side facing sofa layout which is our ideal

Putting the exchange rate aside, are the show deals considerably greater than the normal dealer prices ?

Off today at 6pm for three days, couple of days in the show and a day around Düsseldorf.
Weather looks good just a bit of rain Wednesday afternoon at the moment.
Mrs CC has been in training after our epic 18k walk one day around the town a few years back!

Can be, our current Hymer we got 19.75% off after our dealer kept going back to Hymer and getting more bits we wanted thrown into the deal. If we had bought direct from the dealer not at the show it would have only got 15%.

We negotiated a price with a Hymer dealer in his showroom before the show, then had to attend the show to place the order with him and get an extra 5,000 Euros off. Don't know whether this is the case with other manufacturers.

If you are prepared to buy at the show you can negotiate well. Be focused, have a shopping list before you go and then you can easily fly out and back in a day - job done. There is a free bus from the airport (5 min), level one, arrivals is level 2, - get off at the Ost, the first exhibition stop (not the first stop), as the sud (south) is closed for building works (you will know when you are at the exhibition stop). Keep your entrance ticket handy as you need it when you leave! I think one ticket allows you access for 2 days. Long queues for food between 12 and 2. The exhibition halls are usually very warm so travel light although there is a cloakroom facility at every entrance. Allow plenty of time going through emigration at Dusseldorf as very slow. Enjoy. 19.5% is a much better bargain than I managed.

So, off the ferry this morning 08:30 Hook of Holland and straight onto some good road, very modern junctions and intersections, can’t help but compare to the drive from Stanstead to Harwich (what an embarrassment some of the UK is).

OK I find leaving the coastal area of Holland the roads can be a bit bouncy and 50% of these fellas jumped off the shelf,

As we can’t get into our booked parking at Dusseldorf until 4pm we have time to kill so thought we would have a look at Eindhoven(y) found parking at the P+R on Campercontact and dead easy to get to big parking bays including overnight if you want it.

10 spaces and a dump point somewhere allegedly;)

Must explore.

Interesting Martin. We've seen quite a few of the 'UN peacekeeping' type of vehicles on our travels. Where do folk get them? Are they a sort of Army surplus vehicle?

Have you seen the multi story bike park by Amsterdam station or in Germany the underground one in Treir by the Roman gate.
Seen the Amsterdam one.
