I am a Ggole Chrome person but have been seeing ads for Duck Duck Go recently which claims to stop sites tracking you and cookies etc. so less adverts. Wonder if anyone is using it and is it as good as they say?

Can't help with the actual site but I did try to download it and it seemed very involved with questions that I give up on it.

strange I did not have any questions just clicked on the link and it installed OK. Did a small test on you tube and all the adds have gone so maybe it does what it says on the tin.

Ok , don't know what I did then, maybe try again.

I use it all the time, especially when browsing for shopping gifts etc.

Because it doesn't allow trackers you can surf all day long and not be pestered for weeks on end by adverts for products that you just looked at once.

Great site, recommended 👍👍

When you open a new tab it tells you how many trackers its found, looks like Jim is trying to track us all:xsurprised: This is just after browsing a few pages....

I use DuckDuck as a back up for Safari on Apple products. I don't have any concerns about DuckDuck doing what it says it does. You will find it too control-oriented compared to Google. Loading DuckDuck from Apple Apps didn't require any questions.

Iv been using the search engine for years long before the browser was advertised. Browser wise i use Opera. Only dissadvantage was acess to google translate.

I don't use the DuckDuck browser,

I use the DuckDuck extension for Safari..

really is good

I am using it as well and find it works well.👍🏻
What he said. Been using it for over 3 years and much prefer it to Google.
Edit: one user tip- the searches are Us based. So if you’re searching for say, ‘engine bits for Moto Guzzi’, if you type ’uk’ (without the quotes) after Guzzi, you’ll get UK sites first.

Likewise, I use the DuckDuck search extension for Firefox. I also run 'Pi-Hole' as a network wide tracker/ad-blocker.

The latest version of Firefox comes with a translation feature.

If you have an iPad, then using the Privacy facility in Safari, will also prevent trackers etc….

Phil D, no sorry! I don't keep a record of them and I don't use DuckDuck all the time. I remember a vehicle photograph website who DuckDuck blocked, and one selling tools.

PPBear has shown stats in the last 30 days; mine show Apple stopped 65 Google attempts, including Facebook which I'm not a member, to profile me. My wife and sister do not use DuckDuck nor Apple and are quite happy to get adverts which is in their interest.

I have also used Duck Duck Go browser and searches for years on my phone, and Firefox on my PC along with Duck Duck go for searches, Ghostery and uBlock Origin. I must have blocked millions of adverts and cookies over the years.

It says 'Watch you tube without Targeted ads. I am not sure what that means?

It's £13 a month to get premium youtube (no ads) so I'd be surprised if there was such an easy way around this.

Well when looking on Chrome the R/H side of screen is full of ads, using duckducck they are gone. Give it a go see how you get on.

On the odd occasion I watch YouTube on the TV app I get ads but never on the laptop with Firefox.

Yes, I have used Duck Duck for about three years and find it very good. No problems experienced.
