Ducato oil change. (1 Viewer)

Having a problem finding info on how often gearbox oil should be changed, quantity and grade.
Has anyone carried this out.

Engine and year ?
On mine it's not a service item and no level plug or dipstick so I changed it myself.
A year later it needed a new clutch so got changed again.

If it’s an x250 then it’s life of gearbox! However I had mine done last year, the correct oil is quite expensive

That's extreme and unnecessary.
Why did you change oil while changing the clutch.
The clutch is dry so no need to change oil.
Gearbox oil change is usually very high mileage....maybe 80000 to 100000 miles or more.

The driveshafts need to come out to remove the gearbox for a clutch change so the gearbox oil comes out anyway. No point in trying to reuse it

I changed our 2014 X250 Ducato six speed gearbox oil 18 months ago at 24k miles just to be sure I knew what was in there. There’s a thread about on here. I used Petronas Tutela Matryx fully synthetic and put 2.9 litres in.
Can’t be sure about the 2009.

As said ,drive shafts have to be removed so oilhas to come out ,might as well use new.

It looked dirty, not quite black and had tiny metal filings on the drain plug magnet.

I change my gbox oil every three years. I do it myself, so it doesn’t cost much.

Changed mine last year at 100,000 miles oil was very black and did not look very nice, I also used Petronas Tutela. Easy home job, filling is done through the breather.

Not sure of the setup with the Fiats, but make sure you can access and undo the fill point before you even try to undo the drain plug !

Access isn't too bad but you need to remove the air filter housing and the breather clips off to allow filling.
