We thought that and used the Perpherique as preferred route. We wondered what the fuss was about until we got snarled up.You must be barmy John the Perpherique makes the M25 look like a fast race track.
Last time I was on it in a car, no choice doing a job in Paris. Took longer to do 20 miles on the Perpherique than the following 120 miles to Dieppe.
I think you have been very lucky, I wouldn't tempt fate and try again. If you do get caught it makes a jam on the M25 seem like fast moving traffic.Timing is all to do with it.
I try to do it from 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs.
6 times now and really no issues.
I wonder if we see it as equivalent to the M25. Easily caught on that and try to detour round it but at the end of the day it gets us round London.
May this year, heading down to the Vercors. Every intention of taking the peripherique (monitoring it a week in advance). I ll let you know. It becomes super fast after Paris on free motorways (8 euros of tolls speeds it up as well)I think you have been very lucky, I wouldn't tempt fate and try again. If you do get caught it makes a jam on the M25 seem like fast moving traffic.
Another one to avoid is the Brussels ring.
At least with France & Belgium its easy to aviod these rings, not like London where the isn't a viable alternative.
Doesn't Rouen have a low emission zone? If so, I'd worry more about that and whether or not you have a valid Crit-Air.
Surely you will be able to see a low bridge,,,don't worry if you turn towards one stop and reverse or turn round.BUSBY.Hi all,
I am travelling to France for the first time in September and we need to go through Rouen.
I have heard stories of motorhomes getting trapped in an underpass with a low height barrier.
I am just under 3m and scared stiff of the sat nav taking me towards this route.
can anyone tell me the name of the underpass or the road that takes me to it, or better still, a route through Rouen that will avoid this underpass,
thanks to all who help,
