Is it just me or are motorhomes bloody hopeless on wet grass when driving onto ramps? It seems our Apache 634L gets its knickers in a twist if there's even the slightest gradient on wet grass and just starts spinning its wheels. Any tips appreciated.

good question, 2008 Ducato. I'll check the book.

A little button on the dash with a T on it, certainly helps mine on a wet or loose surface.
If the button just has a T on it the Traction Control is on by default and the button turns it off.

If the T has a circle around it with the top half dotted and a + on the right side that is Traction Plus. The traction control is perminatly on and the button turns on traction plus.
I think traction plus came out about 2014.

Ditch the ramps and use bits of timber instead.

Yes , I hadn’t looked at mine when posting but it has the traction plus.

I am just about to grind the lips off my Milenco Quattro ramps, they are nice and high but those cups on them are stupid!
I wouldn't. They are not cups, they are peaks. The high points engage with the tyre tread and reduce wheel spin on the ramp.

Why bother with ramps? Mine are in the garage at gathering dust. Been touring France Belgium Germany and Denmark for over 4 weeks now parking up for the night in all sorts of locations and have never regretted leaving the ramps at home.

All that happens at the moment is that they scoot across the gravel as the peaks create too much ramp. If they will get up solid plastic ramps, they will get up these.

If it doesn’t work they are going in the bin, as they are bloody awful things!

Just unwrapped our brand new Milenco Quattro 3 ramps and the packaging says to drive up them forward, and not to reverse up them.
I was looking to find out why, and found this thread.
I still don't know why, but at least I know that some people reverse up them.

Has anyone found a good reason not to reverse up them?

If the back wheels on our MH need to be raised, the higher ramps would hit the exhaust pipe in front of the back wheels. So I have to reverse onto them. Never noticed any particular problem with reversing.

Biggest challenge I've had is telling the Mrs she needed to get back in the front so I could get more traction .. and it working.

Maybe it's a fiat thing we're ford base and never seem to have a problem. I do hear a lot of people revving the engine I find it easier just to feather the clutch and don't usually need to touch the accelerator.

Basic rule is you want gravity to help you. So put the ramps downhill and roll on to them. Safer as well as being easier on the clutch and handbrake.

Agree and it also makes it safer as you are reducing the degree of the slope you are parking on.
