Hi folks. I’ve had a look and can’t see anything on this though I am sure there is. But....
we are looking to have our drive done. I am thinking about a telescopic security post. Any thoughts? Which type have people have experience of?

Was asked to install some at a pub some years ago to prevent cars accessing a canal without permission. Lasted a week until dray men ran over them with the lorry

Like the ones outside Windsor Castle (hydraulic) you can always use them to lift the van up to inspect underneath !!!

We had x two manual telescopic stainless still ones installed when we had our drive extended. Cost four hundred pounds each, but well worth it.

Hi folks. Having heard your thoughts and done some more investigation, I am now looking at buying a telescopic post. I may fit in a steel bar through the centre mounted on two bearings so if someone tries to use an angle grinder it will spin and not cut. That might slow them down a bit.
cheers all

That's how we used to make prison bars back in the 60's. The only difference being that we didn't mount the bar in bearings, just left it loose and the bar was made of manganese steel which is work hardening.

We had one in our last house when we kept our van on the drive-it was a lift up bright yellow one set in concrete-very solid, only issue we had was that the lock in the top froze if it was really very very cold. I'd definitely have one again if I wanted to get a van back on my drive instead of storage.
