Double sleeping bags

Most of them are machine washable these days.

You will need a huge washing machine. Mine isn't big enough to wash a single sleeping bag never mind a double.

In the previous VW camper we had a king size 2 seasons sleeping bag. SWMBO made a bespoke cotton liner out of 2 sheets. It wasn't warm enough when there was frost outside and we ended up wearing fleece jogging tops and bottoms at night. In summer it was too warm so we took the liner out and slept in that. Getting in and out of the sleeping bag was not as easy as with a double duvet which is wnat we now have. 4.5 TOG is enough for us.

Anyone want a king size sleeping bag? Free if you collect it yourself.

No, they are blue and black I think. I can have a look when we get home later today if you want 👍

If it's easy, otherwise don't fuss, I think I'm swaying towards a cotton lined one. They tend to be more 'indoor'.

Both the items in post #1 seperate into singles, which is handy for washing (y)

We gave up on a shared duvet years ago and we each have our own. No arguing or tug of war, plus I can have a much lighter togg than SWMBO will put up with

Agree! Separate single duvets are brilliant, you can have whichever tog rating you prefer and move as you want. Don‘t like sleeping bags, no room to move, too claustrophobic.

Yes, that's why I want a double, room to move. If we can destroy and lose a big Duvet, individual ones have no chance. We don't want to pay extra for a foam base that we don't need either! I'm looking for something simple and easy to manage. Don't want something else that needs stripped down and re-built every journey. ;)

Good luck with your experiment and the sleeping bag. I do think that maybe your problem stems from leaving the heating on at night, something we never do however cold.
It is well known that one sleeps better in a cool room.

Although your bed is 130cm, don’t forget you need extra room for the bag to go over your bodies and for you to be able to turn over.

In the van, we do have singles but with sheets that are sewn up on one long side and across the bottom to keep toes warm and with lightweight feather duvets that you can really snuggle under and around you. Wool blankets on top for those really cold nights.

Thanks for that. We go to bed / get up at different times so it's the easiest way, we do turn it down at night though. It also saves the boiler from freezing or dumping our water.

It's only a £40 experiment and I'm sure the bag(s) will come in useful at other times.

I've ordered the Trail version, thanks again to all who replied. Just for completeness, here are the ones that I looked closely at.

Having tried a double sleeping bag for one night when we picked up our last PVC it is something we wouldn't ever do again! It was like being trapped in a large shopping bag!

We use fitted sheets on the base and although I like to have a sheet on top it's not necessary, so just using a duvet would be sufficient however we have 2 lighter duvets on at the same time, that way we can just throw back one but have the other to keep us at a nice temperature, then just grab the other again if needed.

Try not having the heating on as you shouldn't get overly hot and want to throw the bedding off in the first place or be so restless to end up tying it in knots. We never have the heating on and a water heater has only ever dumped once in all the years we've had MHs as it was overly 'sensitive' to temperature drops (the good old clothes peg did the trick which we just removed if we thought it was going to be very cold overnight just to be safe).

Zip 2 singles together. As long as they are the same make you could then use as singles if you need to

Are they men 😱
maybe you didn't read the story? Vic pulled up in a layby for a break, opened his door and a Spanish man walks over and slides his hand up the leg of Vic's shorts. I am certain he will give you coordinates if you want to try it

Fitted sheet, double duvet. I sleep on top (of duvet) wife sleeps inside.

Duvet for me and the duchess. Warm, snuggly buggly and not restrictive. One can be on top (so to speak :giggle: ) and one underneath if required.
Sleeping bags are for tents up mountains.

But you have to have a big one, otherwise WW3 will erupt!

Even if they are cotton lined sleeping bags you will still have to wash them every week if you are away, what a palaver. It seems such a backward step.
We have a U shaped lounge and prefer to make it up into a King sized rather than leave it at 2 singles. We did have Duvalay mattress toppers that we rolled up during the day but actually prefer a double quilt shaken out on the bottom, it’s just as comfy and lighter, no fiddling with a sheet each night when making up the bed. Then two single quilts on top plus two large fleecy blankets. This gives options depending on temperature. I feel the cold, Nick doesn’t. The quilt covers are easy to whip off and wash. This all fits into the over cab storage during the day even in our PVC.

Carolyn has just reminded me, we also have a fleece blanket between the sheet and the bottom duvet, so can just have that on with the duvets folded back if needs be, also it actually makes it much warmer than having just the duvets on top as the fleece isn't such a 'cold' material as duvet covers.

Perhaps he was checking for hand brake lever damage? :ROFLMAO: (You know the sort you get when getting out of your MH too quickly whilst wearing shorts and the handbrake lever goes up the short's leg!).
