Door knockers.

My Mum had lots of callers telling her there was an issue with her roof / gutters etc (and she is in a "no cold call area"). I reported to the police and they went to see her and spoke to all the neighbours. The man Mum calls "Mr Know-It-All" and says spies on her had actually noted down some of the numbers of the vans and gave them to the police who did check them out. One was a legitimate vehicle, two had cloned plates and the last had false plates.
 
I keep my gates locked and a post box on the gate for the postman. I used to get a lot of white van men claiming they were lost while looking around my property. Not any more.

We used to do that until someone came along and dug our rather nice postbox up, even though it was bolted to a concrete base ☹️
 
Folks - don't want to worry you, but can prospectors see you van on Google Earth / Google Maps....?:frowny:
 
Yeah but googles old ive got a caravan on my drive thats been gone three years
