Don’t like the Woosh Bang, I love mine

This tour will be just shy of 2 months, we're not carrying any winter clobber, nor Golf clubs, but the garage space is only half used. I understand if you need extra lockers for cosmetics and shoes, stick with a bigger van and really massive garage :D

Agreed Jim, this mornings view out the whoosh bang. The added bonus is the noise coming from the river, masks the noise of closing the door.

If you are 6ft or less then a transverse bed gives you a massive garage. Plenty of room for a couple of golf bags.
Thanks Jim. That's a thought. We're gradually swaying that way ...

Since weve owned a panel van I’ve found my absolute favourite aspect is the big sliding door, the whole side of the van opens like your sat outside. Right now I’m sat here with watching a thunderstorm over Lake Garda, Awesome like under the awning without the hassle….Woosh Bangs Rule (y)
The sliding door is my favourite thing too - sat in one the swivel seats with a view & a cup of tea is my happy place :)

This is us currently at Crosby Ravensworth after a month touring and cycling around the Lakes and Dumfrise and Galloway.
Note, awning out to keep drizzle out of the van, mozzie screen deployed to keep (non existent) mozzies out of the van.
Also note, sliding door wide open to allow the stunning, uninterrupted vista of my brother in laws van, along side us.

My VW T6.1 Transporter short wheelbase Kombi has more storage than any of the 6 previous motorhomes we have owned, also fitted with a king size Van King bed, fitted with a fantastic whoosh bang door.

John.

. No kitchen obstructing the opening and a long seat on the opposite side
Hi.
" Wildax Constellation 3 " Christmas 1996. Is another one.... One person on the passenger swivel seat,3 ? on the long seat and one on the single seat by the door, looking out . Being as there is only Jennifer and myself ( Plus now "Mira "the dog ) There is plenty of room to sit and watch the world go by,sorted.

It might seem that way but tardis isn't an actual thing.

I've had absolutely loads if vw vans and various other vans ,campers ,motorhomes and there just isn't the same storage in a pvc of any description thar there is in a motorhome. It's just finding the right layout with the right compromises.

We keep thinking about a PVC then start wondering where we would put all our stuff. I guess it would need a complete rethink but we're golfers. How do we carry our clubs? All answers gratefully received apart from the ones suggesting we ditch them.
Our Globecar summit has two raised fixed single beds, so plenty of room underneath, accessed from rear doors. We store two folding mobility scooters in the space, besides chairs, table, cable etc etc

You wouldn’t believe what I can carry in our T6 full storage under and above the bed, on the floor in front of rear seats and if I wanted on top of the 3 rear seats. I used to tow a trailer with the motorhomes to carry everything on our trips and rallies since downsizing van size big time I’ve got rid of the trailer.

I can believe it as I've had several vw campers myself . But what you gain in one place you lose in another.

Enough room?……..

For our day to day living needs we have a Quest pop up pro 6 with adjoining tunnel double seat swivel for the dogs bed at nighttime, going to Busfest this weekend and hopefully buy a swivel table so we can also eat, drink etc inside if we just go out for the day.

We have a massive king size rear electric bed at the back so have a humongous garage if required. Can fit a full size pallet in.

The woosh bang is what attracts me to a panel van for our next van.

I love camping and being outdoors - still go away on the (motor - don't be silly!) bike with a tent. The thing I like least about our coachbuilt is that being inside feels remote from the outside, more often than not I'm sat outside on a chair.

So a woosh bang with a sofa opposite sounds ideal, so long as I can persuade Mrs F that it's not cold and the door can be open ;)

Just need to wait until it's just me & Mrs F now - then find a panel van now that I can stand up in, has beds that are long enough, has a much better cooker than just a couple of gas rings, decent size shower, plenty of windows........

We love our PVC as well. Left Lake Garda yesterday, currently in Pisa. We have a U-shaped lounge and front swivel seats so best of both worlds and loads of storage. No room for my ballgowns admittedly but the Opera season has finished now so we should be OK.

We need room for two ebikes. Don't like the thought of them being outside, even on a towbar bike rack.

Otherwise, I'd like to go back to a pvc.

Change them for folding ones.

I’m 6’3 with size 12 feet and clumsy to boot so a panel van will never appeal.
I can though see the attraction of a panel van, better mpg, travel faster, easier to park etc. Last year we took a seasonal pitch on a campsite when travel was complicated, during the year we watched many increasingly popular pvc’s come and go, at times there were nearly as many as normal motorhomes.
However depending on the layout we did notice some shortcomings.
Some are so cramped that to allow sufficient room for dressing, partners had to wait outside.
We have seen bedding fall out of the rear door onto wet grass.
We saw a couple who towed two motorcycles on a trailer have difficulties repacking everything back into the van, it just wouldn’t fit first time so they unloaded and started again.
But perhaps worst of all we had a neighbour for a while who didn’t have enough room for beer in their small fridge!!
I can see they work for some, but not for us.
