Dometic Fridge Freezer Fault Model RM7605L

Hi Tony

I did try this however it hasn’t worked. I am half tempted to try it again.
Thanks
Chris

Hi I have found them quite good in the wind I must say. There are mixed reports but in the wind they do stop the fridge from going out

Give it a good old shakeup , did you here fluid moving ? , also don,t use the winter covers the heat exchangers need a good airflow especially in high ambient temperatures .

I have always assumed that the vent covers are used just to keep bugs and dust out when the fridge is not in use.
Every day a school day.

Hi. Ok so I have turned the fridge on. Plugged MH into 240 and the fridge on obviously has chosen 240

the pipes as the back have started to get hot and there is heat coming out the top vent. I VE banged all the pipes as I can’t lift the fridge on my own out the space.
Any ideas as it’s getting hot but not cold.
thanks Chris

Post no. 15 ?
At the back of the fridge at the bottom of the cooling pipework is where the three heat sources are...…….you should be able to feel if the pipes are getting warm.
If there is heat, then there's something wrong with the cooling circuit.

Yes. So I have heat at the top vent and cold down below. Would this suggest that the pipes on the back are blocked in some way

So the electronics and heaters are working, Youve either most likely got a blockage or the ammonia is gone.
Is the metal heat sink in the freezer getting cold?

It would suggest its working, have you waited long enough? After an hour or so is the heat sink at the back, inside the freezer getting cold?

Hi. So the heat sync is in the fridge this doesn’t seem to get cold at all.

Just to be clear pictures attached thanks Chris

Hi it’s been on a couple of hours

Set the temperature about a third and leave another couple of hours and see if it cools.

Mmm , give it a few hours if it doesn't get cold it sounds like the refrigerant has escaped , but I am not a refrigeration engineer so it may be worth further investigation . Good luck !

Viz, Turning the frig; You have to turn it in the direction of flow through the Condenser. From memory (not that good at 76+) it is turn and lay flat on side leave for a few hours, then turn on it`s head, Ditto, then on the opposite side, Finally upright!. Very nearly 50 years ago now. I served on ships still using 110Volts DC. The only "domestic" fridges available where absorption types. It was a fairly frequent "event" and because of the size and weight of these, involved several sailors and a Chain Block Tackle.!. When one did fail, you knew, the stink a ammonia was everywhere. Some BTW use Lithium Bromide/Water. Or Ammonia/Hydrogen/water.

Hi All

I’ve turned it on and will leave for a few hours and see what happpens.
It’s funny that you mention the ships as the fridge failed after a really rough crossing to Bilbo from Portsmouth. I put it down to the shaking at first hmmm

failing thatI think I will get an engineer out to look at it.
thanks
Chris

Don't just send for a normal fridge engineer, he'll sh1t himself when he sees that ?

99.99% of fridge engineers are only experienced in compressor type systems.

Just had to replace our Dometic Fridge / Freezer RMD 8505 owing to cooling unit failure and opted for Thetford model as £700 cheaper. One engineer told me later Dometic models have Chinese sourced cooling matrix units which have a poor life expectancy owing to cheap materials. Don't know if Thetford are any better - time will tell I guess.

One good thing though - Thetford come with a 3 year warranty over a 2 year warranty and in my case £1,000.00 GBP cheaper on the fridge freezer - its a no brainer all the way to go with Thetford for me. Especially now I have found a local engineer to install it for £100.00 GBP plus any bits - Result !
