Dogs and Motorhomes

We have a 34kg Labradoodle who never, ever rests until we stop. He stands up on every journey. Even to Spain and back. He also slobbers, dependent upon journey. So we cover the floor and the seating and he roams up and down the van each journey.

Some may tut, tut at that. But that's the way he copes with travel. So we don't care as long as he's content (ish).

We also bought the size and type of van so we could take him with us. We thought he'd settle down, but he hasn't. We even tried him on very low dose diazapam but that didn't work either.

We could never leave him with anyone or a kennel, because we say he's our dog and our responsibility. We did two Europe trips without him. But this year he goes everywhere with us.

It's something we get used to. We don't think he'll ever get used to it. He just accepts it, we think anyway. Because he can't tell us

Our rescue " Mira ". She was found in the woods with puppies,hunters take the dogs out in the back of pick up trucks and trailers to the woods..... and they stand,there and back. They have a rough count at the end of a hunt,any missing dogs they.
come back for in a day or two..( Maybe not ) Stands from when we leave until we stop.
It is a bit unnerving to see her,but................................... She is the first one in the car or m/ho....... Enjoy.

PS. Mummy and daddy have a smaller version of the " Magic metal cold food cupboard in the m/ho,like the one in the kitchen.
PPS. Heard that saying.." This dog will work for food ? "

Our Ralf is a pain in the car but in MHome we have him harnessed on the floor by our seats and is no trouble at all. Think it's because he can stretch out and can't see the outside. I the car minute we come into built up area he starts barking etc etc.

That’s hilarious, made me laugh

It didn't us at the time, but we do laugh about it now
Cost me £400 to buy a towbar and the electrics and half a day to fit it and we never used it again

Updated to say, it might be worth engaging with a dog trainer. Most behaviours can be corrected, if it's one of anxiety it will take time for you and your dog. You can start on the drive, don't need to be moving.
