Dog on sites

I have always thought that due to some very bad people out there that lots of breeds have got a bad name, I bred Boxers for thirty years and had contact with many of my 'kids' for all their lives by cards and pics etc: their owners were good and took their dogs to puppy parties and dog training, happy result.

I feel for you, you will be fine with one of those lovely puppies, and I've known many lovely Rotties, I guess you may find sites that won't have certain breeds but there's always another one that will, all sites say keep your dog on a lead anyway so can't see the problem.

France don't like any "proper dog" they prefer little snappers you can carry them everywhere and just pop them down onto the pavement to poo ;)
Remember the first time we went to Ile de Ré and realised in the whole day we hadn’t seen a single dog getting about using its own legs! Mind you, it was a Sunday at St Martin de Ré...

I have no objection to dogs on sites, what I do object to is the owners letting them Crap on site, wether it's around the edges of the site or not. I do get a little irate when eating my breakfast and I look out to see it happening. I accept accidents happen but not every day. So dog owners I will make a fuss of your dog, but I don't what to hear its constant barking, or have itslobbering over me. ( Bit off topic, rant over enjoy your Dog walks).

Try Caravan & Motorhome Club and Caravan & Camping Club sites in the U.K. Neither of them charge for dogs. Rarely use sites in Europe, prefer Aires and have never seen any that restrict dogs. Would recommend getting a soft muzzle (and getting your dog used to wearing it) just in case you need it.

Once saw a young girl handling a rottie in an agility competition (the dog was taller than her) and the gentleness and devotion of that dog was amazing.

I think there might be some local laws/ rules in France. I remember seeing large dogs in my local town (in the Dordogne )wearing muzzles.
If you do go abroad as Potty says, buy a muzzle, get your dog used to wearing it and have it just in case it’s needed. Don’t recall ever seeing them worn in rural locations, just around the town and that was ppossibly market day when there’d by more local town police around.

Thanks all for the kind words and we all must agree that it’s the owners that give the breeds a bad name specially not picking up after your pet has left a present on the floor.

Ive been brought up with dogs all my life and I’ve never ever had an aggressive animal because they have all been brought up in a family home with kids, well trained and obedient but I will say all dogs have a protective instinct that’s breed in them.

Now when the new lad arrives it’s like being a daddy again, god help me.
