Does anyone know what year Citroen, Fiat and Renault added Adblue to their 3.5T vans?

Does anyone know what year Citroen, Fiat and Renault added Adblue to their 3.5T vans?

I am starting to look for a van for my next conversion. I ideally want the last year where adblue was not a part of the vehicle.
It would be even better if I could go with one without a DPF but I suspect that would take me back too many years.
I don't want to go older than 2015 if at all possible. I usually like buying at the 8 year mark, but I suspect this will drag me into the adblue years?

Any other thoughts are welcome. Anything I should consider on the engine front?

It will be a Luton, so I am not to concerned about rust or chassis issues.

I will never buy a Mercedes or a Ford. VW is possible but I suspect too expensive for my budget.

I think it may have been 2018/2019 as our Carthago was registered in October 2019 (late 2018/early 2019 build) and doesn't have it. I know that Adblue was already in use then as it was one of the things we didn't want.
 
Just had a quick search and it appears it was 2017.

But if you read Wikipedia...

In 2019, Ducato moved from twin EGR system introduced with for Euro 6 to AdBlue on the 2.3L engine to comply with Euro 6d. Same year Boxer/Relay/Jumper changed the 2.0L PSA DW10 engine for 2.2L DW12 based engine.

Our previous Fiat was 2019 and didn’t have Adblu and I fancy I remember at the time being told it was one of the last. It was a PVC we had to wait for it to be converted. It hadn’t been sitting on the forecourt.
 
My 2018 fiat doesn't have it.

Good choice, I wouldn't entertain anything with adblue, seen too many issues with trucks and I like well built stuff with minimum hassle. Would also prefer without DPF, DMF, stop start, lane assist, etc etc.

My recently retired proper motor engineer garage owner kept the last petrol transit hexwas able to buy (2.3 v6) because he didn't want diesel. Does make you wonder with the low annual mileages most motorhomes do
 
The thing is that as the base vehicles will have waited around to be converted it's difficult to get a definitive answer from MH owners unless they can give their base vehicle build date and not registration date.
 
My 2017 Citroen Dispatch has it, but the larger van used for lutons etc will probably be a slightly different year as this Dispatch was a new model.

The problem is pre Adblue on a Fiat means twin egr. Which is worse is a matter of opinion.
I have no idea. But one is guaranteed to cost you money the other is only likely to cost you money?

Just checked. New EGR valve and gasket etc £84?

I have looked for a reliable price to repair common adblue faults and they all seem to be in excess of £1,000 and sometime way higher.
Plus the cost of buying adblue as well.

My 2014 Peugeot doesn’t have it but the fuel consumption is dire compared with a previous almost ideltical van on a transit!

2017 Peugeot ‘s tend to have Adblue.
Think just about all of the PSA had switched by then. Many also have the Eolys additive (into diesel) tank system too. Another thing to be worried about.

I like my Bailey but wouldn’t have another one based on a Peugeot.
 
AdBlue Defeat is a possible remap - only detectable if the ECU is interrogated, and how likely is that?
It is not tested at MOT.

Mine is not defeated but simply stopped working for a couple of years.
May or may not be working now, no way of telling.
 
I am not too concerned about mpg these days as I as I don't travel far. Need to be within an hour at most from Mum in case she has another fall.
Brother and sister both have full time jobs and live a LOT further away. I have moved to be closer to her so I can be on call.
I have a little vauxhall vivaro which I am slowly converting as well to a weekend van it is the one I do the most miles in for things like shopping and going to visit her.
The Luton will be my new "home" and for when I can get away a bit further afield.

Asfaik Best engine in Ducatos was the 3 litre, strong torquey chain drive cams, variation still used in todays Dailies.
 
Bit late with info, but our 2016 (registered end of June) Fiat Ducato 130 with comfortmatic gearbox - a so-called Euro 5+ engine - definitely did not use Adblue.

It was a Rapido V68 pvc.

I believe it was 1 or 2 years later when Adblue was required. Initially, I recall Fiat managed to produce a Euro6 Ducato for one model year (16 or 17?) which did NOT require Adblue, but then changed spec so it did. 🤔

I know what you mean.

Although to be fair, we never had a single issue during 8 years of ownership from new. And I was happy with how it performed. A dodgy knee made it more comfortable to drive than the two previous manual gearbox vans we'd had.

But must admit, some of the horror stories on Fun were beginning to make me nervous. 😉

You also need to be aware ,as someone has mentioned, that Citroën used EOLYS before ad blue & that there is 4 different types of EOLYS used on there vehicles. Saving grace with it is that it sips the stuff & barely uses anything. i.e. they are only 3 litre tanks. Mate has it & has only refilled once in the last 11 years.
I believe Citroën used it up to 2017/18 & on the Relay vans

2019 fiat Autosleeper comformatic no adblu 2021 Globecar does have adblu
 
Gromett our June 2017 Ducato hasn’t got AdPee but it’s ready for it.

Is your s adblue though?
The connection from my eolys tank to the fuel tank melted and failed at 21000 miles and 7 years old.
It needed a replacement fuel tank. £950 plus VAT ( for the fuel tank) plus fitting plus diagnostics etc. one hell if a bill 😡😡😡
