We have one of those over cab Perspex windows with two arm roads with clip groves in them , easy to open and lock in place but can be a real bugger to release and close the window - lots of jiggling or the arm rods .

Any solutions - other than leave it closed ?

Depends what bit is too tight and causing the resistance, find that and you can strip it and reduce the resistance. Filing or sanding then silicone spray or furniture polish
