Do insurance companies really check Facebook?!

Simple FOIs if the reason is justifiable motor insurance beureau do it all the time. My sister is a claims manager, she won't confirm or deny
She's just asked me, why, what have you done now?

Assumption, of any situation is the mother of all cock ups, don't assume anonymity using social media... Just be careful ?

this whole notion of privacy using social media is a sick joke. When you sign up and click to accept the terms and conditions, did you read it ALL? I bet not and those t&c s include giving unrestricted right to publish any data you share

oh sorry, and yes insurance companies employ investigators, who search for your digital footprints.

They definitely do , I went out with a girl who was high up in a major insurance company, she actually befriended guys (flirting) with them online (social media) so she could get info to decline their fraudulent claims Social media is only one tool they use to stop fraud , not so sure they are using it just to check on people

So our name on a list of rally attendees published on here would be safe?

It's rare to have a full name here, most names are made up or are just a Christian name. For example, the following people have read this thread. Only one or two have names that you might be able to associate with a property.

Oh, I never post ANYTHING publicly. Strictly friends only, and I’m pretty careful about who is my friend. I never post my address or other personal information.

I’ve heard that HOUSE insurance won’t pay out if you post that you are not at home, and are then burgled. I’m not doing anything I don’t want them to know about and I’m not (knowingly), breaking any other conditions. What I am posting is no different to what I have told friends and family in person - that we will be in Europe for the next month. Some of the older family members are a bit concerned as it’s just myself and my daughter, and have asked for regular updates so they know we’re alright. They don’t use WhatsApp. I want to keep my house insurance valid while I am away, and that’s more important than other people’s unnecessary fretting.

I don’t know how anyone can legitimately access my private Facebook account. I’m only concerned that my house insurance will payout if I’m robbed, I’m not making personal injury claims or anything. Just snaps of us in French Vineyards so Auntie Angie isn’t worrying we’ve been kidnapped!

I’m thinking ‘private’ Facebook posts are ok.

Nope...

I can'tbelieve that this had gone on for so long. The answer to the originalquestion is yes each company has different resources each will have keen trainees wanting to be seen as employable, social media is valuable intelligence wise up don't risk it those you share with may share with others, no fun in being nicked, can we get back to motorhomin now?
