Do Folk With Woosh Bang Door Vans...

I don’t have any back doors and don’t woosh bang my sliding door. If outside I slide it slowly till it’s nearly shut then push at the rear of the door where the locking mechanism is and it clicks almost silently locked.
From the inside I do the same but lock it with a handle I retro fitted. It closes quieter than most coach builds.

Is that a Screwfix handle ?

Yes, for some reason they never like to leave the door open. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I hate my whoosh bang on the doblo, back doors have the kitchen over them, suppose i could climb over to get out, but would never manage back in that way 🤣 Hated too the Hartnel (I think) slam door on the escape. Gets bloomin draughty in winter when left open though.

Just wondering which PVC converter fits the electric soft close side door? I know I have seen them, but cannot remember which van it was on.
Might be a great opportunity for someone to supply & fit an aftermarket product, or supply only for the DIY market.
But I guess it might spoil the fun for some.:giggle:

The only one I know of that fits them is RP Motorhomes, there must be others surely ?

I sometimes have to slam the hab door on the MH to get a draught free seal 🦭 so I'm taking this opportunity to apologise to any whoosh bangers I may have disturbed in the process.

Some Globecar models have soft close and it’s very quiet in operation. My Hobby does not : but a gentle push closes the side door without a bang. But try educating the better half about that ............... Hmmmmm.

I do it as often as I can whether I need to or not to annoy dog owners, especially those with horrible yappy dogs who are “ really friendly and jump up at me uninvited and have never bitten anyone before”! Obviously these dog owners are not Funsters I hasten to add who have done wonders to help me overcome my lifelong terror of dogs.

I went to view one Steve, a Hymer Grand Canyon S on a Mercedes 4x4 PVC, at Tyne Valley Motorhomes

The battery was flat so consequently the electric side door wouldn’t open, had to get in through the cab door. It would therefore be soft close for me but not electric.

On Aires we rarely encounter whoose-bangs

There are just as many, but less people moaning about them :D

We Brits love a moan, Social media is full of people who move next to a recreation park and moan about Sunday morning football training, and people who move next to an airport and moan about landings, People move to the countryside and moan about the smell of cowshit. then in the same vein, people who go on campsites and moan about kids on bikes, barbecue smells and people on holiday having a beer and a giggle after 10pm under their awning. :D Some people just love a moan. ;)

Why is it they are quiet all even then at 11pm they start woosh banging their door every 15 min until about 1 am and then start again at 6 am.

It's not until after 11pm (usually after midnight) that the A class & Coach-built owner return to their Motorhomes, too pi**id to remember that the have got their Growlers armed, and we, being the responsible, sober, people we are, have to go out to see what all the noise is about, just in-case it might be someone trying to steal your motorhome?

(After 6am, not only are we sober, upstanding responsible citizens, we are also fit and we have to be out there doing our 5ml park run.)

My bros Wildax whoosh bang door covers the fridge vent so he either has to close/open the door to regulate the vent or the fridge turns off ☹️
opening the door window sort of works sometimes 🤔

Side door also covers our fridge vents but I have never had trouble with fridge switching off
In addition I feel it actually helps the fridge in bright sunshine by keeping sun off area of fridge and there is still enough room between door and fridge to also adequate ventilation.
So with a Wildax the fridge is actually venting into the hab space?

Next weekend will be a Whoosh Bang festival as 25 WildAx vans gather in Northumberland for a 4 day meet! All models are I think Whoosh Bangers.

Yet another gathering weekend idea for Quackers but lets not restrict it to Wildax, open it up to all!

No, when the sliding door is open it covers the external vents which reduces the airflow and so cooling is affected.

I just did an online search for car door automatic opener and got an amazing selection of lock picking tools to choose from 😕.

My WildAX fridge vents to the exterior. The heater unfortunately vents behind open whoosh bang door and sometimes scorches the door lining. So my cunning plan was to put a wooden spar in the door space to stop it opening so far. Seems to work. Later Constellation models don't seem to have this problem, I think WildAx solved it. My van is very old now! So am I but I have to remember to put the wood in!!

Yes Jim, but that's the 'general public', not Funsters surely?

That reminds me when we left for the Ferry 20 yrs ago this time happened to be in the car and left from home at 4.30am
Put the suitcases in the boot shut the boot pushing hard but from only a few inches up only to get both thumbs jamed unde the spoiler on our toyota carina. keys to the boot were in my left pocket and no one around. Had no choice to pull the thumbs out.
had to drive to ferry with frozen chip peas and brussle sprouts. Ended up in doctors in france next day .Lancing one thumb nail with a paper clip and cigarete lighter to heat it up. Needless to say i always kept my thumbs tucked in after that and think about it whenever slideing the van door quietly

You need to buy my Murvi (at an extortionate price) the toilet is right behind the back doors, so one enters through the back doors, one can hang up ones wet coat, have a pee, wash one's hands (or shower) and then enter the living space. Simples!

IMG_20180314_151413.jpg Please excue the dirty rag, I had been working on the fridge which is behind the other door. IMG_20180314_151905.jpg

Unfortunately it was solved by them following the instructions that would probably have said dont fit exhauste door side
