Hi all,

I've had my van since October, and my elderly mother and I have very much enjoyed weekends away through the winter and then attempted a much longer trip to France in April. That trip turned into a disaster with her being hospitalised (due to misdiagnosis at home) and resulted in her losing much of her foot. Hence my quandary...how can I get her back into the van? She really wants to, not yet obviously but in the future; but I am really worried that we will not be able to use the van again with her severely reduced mobility. She is currently only able to stand lightly on the ball of her right foot, and I fear this will not change as her heel is unlikely to heal enough to bare weight. Does anyone have any experience of mobility aids to enter motorhomes? Steps are not really an option, I would like to think in the future it could be possible, but think its unlikely with her heel situation. Are there hoists that can be used above the sliding or cab door to lift someone from a wheelchair for example? I've seen the website for Motorstep but I am concerned that it looks rather heavy for my payload, and how is it on uneven ground? (and the price!)

I would appreciate any advice you may be able to offer - I really hope that our much loved van adventures are not over, especially as we have only just begun.

Fingers crossed for a future vanlife
Thanks
Clare

Sorry to hear about mum. I have same problem can really only put weight on one foot,
Taken long time but solution perfect but at cost. Des Gosling mobility Derbyshire fitted raising power sear to passenger side folds flat and takes me from wheelchair to seat by press of button.

If your budget won't reach a motorstep, you can sometimes find the older version of the same thing pre loved. The powerstep, great bit of kit that folds like a set of sacktrucks and is easy to move around

Hi Clare
I too am
I am disabled and have a Peugeot boxer. L3H2 and we have an Elap Turney Evo to get me into the van, It is an electric remote-controlled chair that drops outside of the van and lifts you in, have a look on their website It’s replaces the passenger seat, and there’s also a captain state so I can turn round into the van, it doesn’t look any different. Really hope this is of some help.

Wow that looks fancy and won't take up any more space... Could I ask for an approximate cost please I presume it is more than the motor step?

I bought a van that already had it in, but I have a feeling they are about 6K you would have to look at the website I can’t be exact, they may be much more now 🫤 it is a good bit of kit!
