Getting there!
Some before and after pictures, all done in less than an hour.

Mask around handles
Clean with a soft scouring sponge and Cillit Bang black mould remover
Rinse with lots of water
Remove masking tape

I finished off by using a detailing spray (sonax bsd) to give some future protection.

Also works great on Fiamma end caps…

Its when the plastic bits turn beige/yellow with UV penetration that winds me up the most. The manufacturers must be aware that in a few years of being outside in all weather conditions they will go off white, yet they do nothing about it.

Of course the know and do nothing, they know you will eventually replace them. Back to money again...

That Cillit Bang black mould remover is brilliant at cleaning. I also use it on my worktops to get rid of tea stains. It smells like it contains bleach which is why it is so good.

While we're at it, does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning the press home Rubber oval type catches which are used on external lockers? They seem to get absolutely ingrained, and don't seem to respond to any sort of cleaner.

Any pictures? I think this method would work

I've been cleaning the trims on my MH today, that have been heavily spotted with black mould and / or dirt. I also did the cap on the water in. Pics to follow. Prepare to be amazed!

How did it go?

Amazing! I honestly can't believe the difference!! I'll get some pics up soon but I'm just watching the match now (and we're one hour ahead) and tomorrow I have a scan that I'd rather not go for, so it may be a couple of days. But, in the meantime, thank you so much for your post. It's definitely helped me! :)

OK, here you go, my before and after pics of cleaning the trim on my MH. These trims and the water filler caphad become really grubby and stained with mould and dirt. I was very close to asking where I could buy new ones (including the surrounds on the garage handles, as they were the same) when I spotted this post by M-J and I'm so grateful!! You can see the results for yourselves.

All I did was spray the Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover on the dry trim, wipe the excess run-off off the surround paintwork / plastic trim, wait about 1 minute (in which time you could see the grub disappearing!) and then rub with the rough side of a damp non-scratch pad. It was like magic!! I didn't even need to rub very hard :) Once I'd rubbed it clean, I rinsed with clean water and hey presto!! I just used a toothbrush and water on the algae :)

PS Please don't mention the wonky sticker! It drives me nuts and is nothing to do with me. I might even get round to removing it and replacing it with a straight one :)
