Do I hear rightly that diesel prices in France have increased to now be at a similar level to the UK?

I'm crossing early next Sunday morning, if there is not much in it any more I'll fill up over here, save trying to find somewhere when I come out of the tunnel.

There is a service station as you come out of the tunnel,at cte Europe .Best fill up before you go, and avoid filling on any of the motorways in France if possible.Whilst driving in France many local service stations are closed on Sundays .Enjoy lol.

With the poor exchange rate there is no difference
I would fill up here.

Get the Essence app, really handy and it even navigates you there.

Cheaper to fill at a supermarket in the UK before you get there, Germany is currently the cheapest for diesel and Netherlands for LPG.

Supermarkets round our area of the Correze are €1.43 give or take a bit. Private service stations are more expensive.

So at €1.10 to the £ that's £1.30 per litre.

Motorway fuel a whole lot more - 8-10 cents per litre - avoid if possible.

City Europe fuel station is (or was) unattended. It has the option of using cards or pay using cash to get a voucher from the machine on the wall of the unattended pay booth which is then used at the pump. As others have said, more or less the same price as here. As an aside, it also has a bourne.

Around Cherbourg the price is around €1.439 and a little further south it was around €1.39.
So at the Revolut rate I got (1.13) it works out around £1.27

The price is all over the place at the moment. Cheapest I've found was €1,37.9 that had risen to €1,39.9 two days later and many are €1,42.9 to €1,44.9. I have never known the price at the pump to be as changeable as it is now.

The cheapest places tend to be larger supermarkets and they have automatic pumps 24/7 that take credit & debit cards. Smaller garages with branded fuel such as Avia are at least 10 cents per litre more expensive and stations on autoroutes can be up to 20 cents more expensive. If you are on a non toll autoroute and need fuel it is better to watch out for a supermarket sign at the side of the road and pull off and go to the supermarket. They are well sign posted. Many larger ones also have good restaurants that are open at lunch time.

That is an innovation.

[Sorry - could not resist.]

Presently around 1.42 euros at the cheapest places ie supermarket filling stations, in northern France as of last few days.

As usual, lot more at normal roadside ones, and a helluva lot more for anyone who is daft enough to fill up at motorway services.

I'm over in france in a couple of weeks as well heading to black forest and take it from there - but i'm gonna refuel in luxembourg and germany which i believe is more sensibly priced than france - but i am not going out of my way due to where i am heading

Tesco are about to re-introduce their 10p off a litre of fuel (min spend £60) so I'm going to use vouchers to fill up at home then at Ashford to top up. After that it will be supermarkets for the rest of the trip (Twin Lakes).

Lux is way cheaper than anywhere else west europe (except Andorra) I find it worth a bit of a diversion if needs be , as it gives me about 800 cheap miles when back in UK (y):D

Diesel prices seem to vary from day to day. I live in France and buy from our local Intermache. Price varies from around €143 to €145. I never buy on the motorway service areas as they are a rip off and so are the stand alone garages like Shell, Esso etc. I will only buy from Intermache and the likes of SuperU.

Just fill up and enjoy yourself...

And a height restriction of 3.05m for anything tall.

But they are not open in an evening when many non-supermarket restaurants are open. Hence the advice ;)

Buy in the UK if you collect Green Shield Stamps.....I am still saving for the set of Pyrex breakfast bowls....only need 2,000,568 for the second bowl.....
When in France as no stamps offered...I always use ESSO to increase my Tiger Tail collection.... currently got 7....
Anyone under 60 reading this, please ignore.

Thanks everyone - looks like I'll be filling up at the Tesco near to the campsite where we're staying on the Saturday night in Dover then, if there's no advantage to filling up in France any more. That'll last me all day Sunday, stop at an aire on the way down, then find a supermarket on Monday morning when we continue our journey south! :D

3 weeks off work - can't wait......
