Anyone have problems sleeping or being annoyed by the tick tick tick of the pump
There are was of quietening them down, ours is hung off off cable ties. The pump pulsing noise can also be transferred by the fuel line touching a surfaces which tends to be overlooked by some.

I fitted one as well to make the gas last longer. The 5 kw comes with two types of controllers, is the one with the up-down side buttons to prime, I don’t like. The heat settings on those is either temp controlled by stat, or 1 to 6 fixed steps. I swapped it with the popular first lcd that gives you hz settings. I got mine factory set 1,4hz to 5,4. The 1,4hz can maintain without being to hot if is 0 deg outside. If is 5-7deg outside, in two hrs I have to switch it off. The pump, I have suspended on cable ties, under the van, and it’s almost quiet. I will wrap the feed pipe in neoprene foam as well as the pump, and suspend it with elastic rubber bungee.

Old wooden box, lined with foam, rubber feet, pump inside wrapped in sound foam, whole box in difficult to access for anything else cupboard space under kitchen.
I did that and was still ticking, maybe airspace in the box but pump still wrapped in foam. Elastic spider web is best I could come up so far, the hard nylon tubing from the pump to heater I have trouble with isolating. To the pump I have rubber hose that flexes, no problems. I may change the nylon tubing with a longer piece, and form a coil before enters the heater.

There is a new uprated silent dose pump but last time I looked it was £89

I wanted to install mine in the cab blowing back into the motorhome, but drilling a big hole in the cab floor was not an easy option. I also wanted to dip the main fuel tank for a fuel source as I didn't like the supplied fuel tank, but when forced to locate the heater in the rear of the van I decided to mount the supplied fuel tank on the rear bulkhead and it works well, out of the way, also easy to fill from a gallon fuel can. I've heard a lot about tick tick from the fuel pump, but I've only noticed it on the first start up, once the heater is running I can't hear this, mine is mounted on the chassis below and behind the heater in the supplied rubber p-clip mount.
Happy days here !!! Rob

and doesnt work supposedly. I hear someone tested it on youtube and it was no different. I havent seen the vid myself though.

It's really informative reading the comments in these Chinese heaters and seeing the youtube vids. My first thought was that they can't be as reliable and safe as the v expensive European ones but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Maybe feed the tube through a piece of flexible hose?

My fuel line runs from one side of our van to the other.
When I first install the pump and fuel line, the pump was screwed to the chassis extension. Bad move as the chassis extension is bolted to the floor if the van and it all acted as a big boom box.
What has worked very well is having the pump hung from a cable tie which is around a section of Armaflex pipe insulation.
Still had a ticking noise which was louder than I like as I'm a very light sleeper. This was tracked down to the fuel line being cable tie to a cross member. Our fuel line is the hard nylon type which was transferring the pump pulse noise to the cross member which of course is bolted to the chassis extensions and so on.
I snip off the cable ties and ran the fuel line through a length of soft PVC tubing, the type used for aquarium air lines and re-cable tied it back on the cross member.
Now you have to listen hard to hear the faint ticking when all is quiet in our van.

It’s not much to go wrong, and the price is well within acceptable level of changing parts if necessary. The controller light will fade with time if left 24/7 on. Some fit a switch to the controller feed. I don’t, I want to have the luxury of turning on/ from the house by remote. The remote is powerful, it works some distance and through wall to. To change the controller is 10-12 quid, or upgrade the led with a smd and a resistor. The heater plug and screen is a serviceable item, 10-15 quid, I just keep one on stand by, the pump, installed almost up right, will get plenty of lube and can last in excess of 2 years. Most of the wear is done on initial priming. I prime the line to the pump, before I connect the pump. Once pump is in, it gets lubed instant. Pcb, and heat sensor are very unlikely to go, the fan can wear out if worked constant on high rpm. All parts are cheap and easy to get hold of, I can see these heaters to stay with us for a long time. Shooting up is normal even on branded ones, it all depends what you burn, and how you use it. It’s a bit of a job for some to open it up and clean it. I installed it in such a manner, that maintenance can be done in a flush, allowing space to work around it, and the ability to take it out in a couple of clicks of the rachet.
I have only one regret, I should of got one from the start, and don’t listen to others opinions on noise, the noise is on start up only. On shut down is less noise, as the pump cuts of and only the fan cools it off before it shuts down. The exhaust has to be sweet bends, the less the better, and fit double baffle, intake I used a propex intake silencer and only one 90deg bend. The least obstructions on intake/exhaust, the better for the fan, for the flow and less noise. My garage will have one as well.

I control our heater via an Afterburn controller. Not a cheap option as it is nearly the price of the heater I fitted, but I can either control our heater directly via the keypad or via a webpage on my phone while away from our van. It may seem a little over the top, but by heck you can control and adjust all aspects of the heater and more. The Afterburner also has a GPIO that you can program.

That’s very nice, would love to have one. I guess you was lucky to get it before the import tax ?

Yes, I got mine last year, but Ray will send to EU countries if your in Romania as per your avatar flag and seemingly not getting hit with import duty and not causing Ray paperwork.
Others in the UK are having them sent to friends in France and Germany and then they are forwarding them on to the UK. (y)

We are going to leave here shortly and not return for 3-4 months. I could have it delivered at my uncle in Düsseldorf. Thanks for the thought. I had a delivery from China here, and is a nightmare with the import codes. Best to have dhl to handle all import procedures, just pay them. In Germany, they are more switched on with international parcels.

I put the pump in a locker and hung it off a cloth/rubber exhaust mount.. I cannot hear it at all

We have a 5kw in our Scout ,best buy I have ever made for our motorhome, 2 outlets and comes with remote control ! press button to start and lie in bed for 5 mins for the whole van to warm up.
It does "tick" when running but guy in Lanark is selling "silent running pump" so will have that fitted soon.
We and the dogs love it !
