Devastating news

Latest in the Daily Mail
Thanks Steph. Know that we can't believe all that we read but it is so important to be kept informed when so many of us are genuinely concerned. Don't know whether this is good or bad news. :(

We all know what we think about the Daily Mail but this looks genuine. Unless of course the lady reporting it is just trying to get in the news, or, DM has made it all up.
Apart from that; it might just be true!

At the beginning of that article you can read this:

  • She was last seen on November 22 and her partner Daniel Colegate reported her missing on November 25
  • Her van was impounded by the Guardia Civil three days after the sighting as forensic teams combed it for clues
So the sighting of a person in the van asleep would be when it was impounded. Or it was Dan in the van. As the sighting was supposedly on Dec 2nd.

I have noticed that the usual clickbait is going on with some papers intimating that their life together was not as idyllic as it was made out.
Interesting that my wife had an interview with a reporter from the Guardian this afternoon for an article they are planning. They wanted to know about the friendship with Esther and my better half. Will be interesting to read and see how close it is to what was actually said.

That reminds me of a time when i was representing Insurers on a potential claim for the loss of a Learjet executive jet over Egypt.

Because of the persons on board and their reason for a meeting with the Oil Minister for Saudi, the Sunday Times' Insight team were interested.

Their reporter requested a meeting, where upon I told him that in my position I could tell him nothing, Since he insisted on a meeting 'just for background' - oh yeah?, I hoping that I could learn something for my clients from him, I agreed.

He bought me about 3 pints and kept asking questions, which got the same answer from me. At the end he got arsy, but I said on the phone that I could tell him nothing. he left.

That is how I deal with the media. because anything one says will be 'edited'

The van was impounded on the 5th December. 3 days after the sighting of someone asleep in the back. The Spanish Police have said it was a forensic person in the van. The lady who took the picture on the 2nd said when she rang the Police about the light on in the van and a person asleep they did not seem interested. They knew the van was there in November apparently so why wait until 5th December to impound it? Very strange behaviour by the Spanish Police.

"MEDIA ADVISORY - ESTHER DINGLEY
LBT Global is managing all media on the Esther DINGLEY case. A statement from Daniel Colegate will be released through this office next week. Any media wishing to receive a copy should email media@lbt.global to request.
ALL MEDIA ENQUIRIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THIS EMAIL ADDRESS. Please do not approach family or friends directly.
There has been considerable speculation in media over this case and we urge caution in this respect. We are seeking clarification on a number of points and these will be published as we receive them. Police have confirmed that the light seen in the campervan was due to their presence.
No further updates are expected until Monday earliest, however any major developments will be published through all our usual channels.
DO NOT APPROACH THE FAMILY RESIDENCE. ANY MEDIA WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY COMMENT."

And on the LBT website this is what they are?

Providing families with information, liaison, advice and support throughout a missing person's case overseas remains a core part of our operations. Every year we reunite many families with the loved one they feared they may never see again.

The skills, knowledge and contacts we have gained in years of providing this support, along with a mutually respected relationship with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, have enabled us to expand our remit, and we are now able to help victims of any type of serious crime.

We have been providing a revolutionary level of care to families of British murder or manslaughter victims since 2008 and we can offer advice, logistical support, repatriation assistance, problem solving, fundraising support and much more to victims of any serious crime overseas.

Just a couple of things I don't understand, why did she ask for fruit from a complete stranger, hadn't she got enough provisions with her , or was she feeling unwell, and the reports that she had a lift back down again , so why did they look around the tops if she had gone down.
I feel as bad about this as everyone else but a few things do look strange.

A lot looks strange. Asking to borrow a phone charger at the the refuge, does that mean she had no backpack solar or powerbank? Was she really in danger of being on the mountain with no phone or was she just asking asking so the guy would remember her, if so why, to establish an alibi? Same with the fruit. Why mention the helpful stranger without taking a photo of him? Was there really someone in her van days after she was supposed to have disappeared, if it was the forensic guy why working so late and for so long, what was his name? How did he gain access to the van? Could it have been Dan? Could this all a stunt to enhance their son line persona?

This comment should be removed in my opinion. Very callous and unnecessary speculation. This is real people lives. Go comment on the daily mail page if you want scandal.

I am not going to try to answer any of your wild assumptions as that would make my post as bad as yours, especially the last sentence.

However, when I read that one witness said she asked for fruit or anything fresh, it bought to mind a time when they both came over to join a BBQ ourselves and Oscar we're organising. She bought along a bowl of some homemade, super strong garlic dip type stuff, that nearly knocked your head off!! Along with a huge carrot from the local health food shop. I was taking the micky out of her for this carrot, it was a right old narly carrot and she was munching on it like it was a bar of chocolate!

She explained that they only ate whole food and avoided anything processed because of Dans medical condition. I cannot remember if they were veggie or not, but when I read about the fruit request, I thought that sounds like Esther! She probably had mountain type food (energy bars, etc) with her but maybe had used her fresh food already. Just like your post, my previous sentence is an assumption.

Could this all a stunt to enhance their son line persona?
Imagine persona as a bank account balance. After writing that post to be read by some of Esthers friends, how's your online persona right now in their eyes, and do you have an overdraft facility in place?

I think your posting says more about your humanity than adding anything to this thread.:cautious:

why did she ask for fruit from a complete stranger,

Not as strange as it sounds, strange on the pavement, but not on a mountain. People are different on mountains; camaraderie, even between strangers, is strong. Asking, offering, sharing is commonplace.

I wasn't suggesting a conspiracy or anything more a concern that she wasn't well or feeling weak or short of food.

I must admit that’s how your post read to me. As you say just questioning if something was amiss with her.
Having read the posts from those who know her. I would be very surprised if she was as unprepared as this sounds.
It’s a long time now, just hope she has holed up somewhere and is safe and well.

It worried me when it was confirmed her van had been found. Up until then I was hoping that she was tootling about somewhere in the van blissfully unaware of the search that was going on. It must be torture for her boyfriend and her family especially when you consider media innuendo and some rather unpleasant posts on here which I suspect are tame compared to others on social media.

Must say , when this started, I never even thought of foul play or acedent, more she's gone off with someone else but surely that would have come to light by now.

I guess what we also need to remember is just how many people go missing every week... we are looking into every scenario because we are 'involved' by the forum with concern for Esther whereas we would normally just accept tv news. Talking of which, has this story been on tv at all asking for help?

Minds will run riot, forgetting that there may be facts that have not been released by the police.. and fictitious reportings too.

LLike everyone else just hoping for good news.. :(

This only adds to the mystery in my view, who are these people, are they looking to have a draw out of this or what, never heard of such a company before.

Just search LBT Global and your mystery will be solved.

I am glad such companies exist (and you would be surprised at how many specialists there are who act as go-betweens in various situations) as they take so much unwelcome pressure / stress etc from the families.

Daily Mail online and in print today. Lot of speculation and interview with the guy who gave her a lift.

Daily Mail
Don't honestly see how that helps much as she was seen later by other people who knew she was there.
