We are off shortly to do a trip around Denmark and then across the bridge to Southern Sweden. I have a sort of route planned for Denmark, most of the time we have been to Sweden before we have just driven through from the Rodby ferry to the Oresund Bridge. So for Denmark, any tips. I get the impression that most of the places to stop seem to be campsites, would we need to book for mid August. Also is there any need for any Danish Krone, or are Visa cards accepted most anywhere. Any places that should not to be missed. Thanks
 
We had a trip around in May, did not go on a campsite ever.
As usual we move on every day, found stops not a problem.
Found Denmark very clean and accommodating, use p4n for majority of stops.
We did take out cash from the ATM, no charge on the one we used.
On the motorway rest areas they have fresh water and black and grey disposable points all FOC.
Cycleways everwhere and easy to use.
But be aware cyclists have priority in all junctions/roundabouts. Turning right check check and check again.
The price of things are more expensive because the VAT is 22% even on food at the supermarkets.
But that could be why its so nice, clean, cared for , and complete.
We did a rouge conversion of 1 Krone to 10p its not that its 15% higher but it was easy conversion and made thing the-same price as the UK.
If you are into swimming there are loads of little piers that take you into deeper water to swim, this is usually done nude! Not the walk out just the dip.
Found the whole experience positive.
If you into seafoods you will not be disappointed.
If into charity shops the Red Cross run loads and are quite interesting .

We’ve been through a couple of times . 2019 and this year we stayed at Ribe and another similar place. I would have to say I wouldn’t bother unless I was going somewhere else as well as it’s all a bit bland. Too clean and tidy for me and flat. Stepford wives, like Poundbury in Dorchester near us.

No need for cash.
 
Left hand side (North Sea) can be a tad boring.

Every town on the coast looks the same, to such an extent we arranged to meet friends in the coffee bar in the town square, next to the Spar shop, which is by the white church with the square tower.

They presumed with such a detailed description we had been there before.
We hadn't, but the villages are so similar that description would almost cover every village.
It's almost though they only had one set of town plan drawings.

Was there in July, food great but bit expensive in supermarket. Found plenty of off site overnights. Found some really nice beaches. As previously mentioned, it is quite samey. But nice samey

The big bridge, Øresund Bridge, Öresundsbron to Sweden is flipping expensive about £50 one way, but you can prepay and get cheaper toll.
 
Yes a bit of a boring country senic wise , but the viking burial ship at ladby a must!! Ribe very good as well i steered clear of big towns , and i mixed it Denmark /sweden /finland to the russian border . Ex trip
 
Viking ring fortress worth a visit and the stone ships burial grounds also good . Check google
 
My brother has lived in Jutland for 40+ years and I've visited many times but I'm really struggling to recommend anywhere!
Language is no problem, they're taught English in school ( they accept that no-one tries to learn Danish) and cards are accepted everywhere.
As said, it's a very clean and orderly country but visually quite boring.
Another shout out for Arhus tho. It's their 2nd biggest city with a nice old part, all very doable.
We're taking the van over to visit them in September for the 1st time, but visit over and we'll be off to Germany!

We’ve just been to legoland in Billund. Credit cards accepted everywhere. We got £50 of Kroner just in case but didn’t need it - ended up using it up in supermarket as part payment! Some of the machines didn’t like my Barclaycard visa but Mastercard ok.
We drove Hoek van Holland to Billund. Traffic around Hamburg was terrible - lots of roadworks. In fact large sections of route 1 had roadworks, varying delays.

You can use the main campsite facility including pool and a Greek restaurant. Nice place
