I'm not a fan of deleting posts. Some people might want to delete something they said due to disagreements, embarrassment etc but then it ruins the thread and would make it difficult to understand. As said, the edit function is there for a short period of time after the post so if you regret anything edit it quickly!

We all regret saying things and a delete facility that lasts for 12hrs would, sometimes, be helpful.
An hour, if one is busy, is sometimes not long enough IMO.
