Decision made for us...

Ah, an attack of the killer tree, hope all goes well..

if they write it off you should ask how much to buy it back, you’ll probably make a profit selling as is in the current market.

I would have cried😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Good luck hope you get enough back to replace like for like

As you say Daryl, the decision has been made for you, do your homework so your ready to reject stupid offers from the insurance company. 🙂
I had a tree fall on a car once, I was sat in it, and the policeman behind me in his car died, I still had the insurance company telling me I needed to find out who owned the tree and prove it was unsafe, went back the following morning the tree had gone, they paid out in the end. 🤔
Oh and we love panelvan conversions since 2013 now on our second one. 😁 Bob.

Oh Heck Darryl just seen your post on here what a shock to come back to, I've just seen Claire photos on FB of the inside put them on here then see if there are any comments about duck tape.
I hope the insurance sorts it out quickly for you enough of a shock seeing it like that.
Hugs x

Sorry you came home to that. Must have been a shock.
Hope your insurers pay up and don’t claim it’s an act of god!

With the greatest respect please do not show your reg number when posting it is just part of any information scumbags may use for I’d theft.
I would think lots of people would see reg numbers when vehicles are being driven around the roads. Being frightened of seeing reg numbers on the internet is to me paranoia.

We had our MH written off in Spain three years ago....

IMG_20161204_091355.jpg

We were with Safeguard and they were very good dealing with the payout.
Use your time to find and save details of any MH's that are currently on sale that match yours. Prepare a file with all the details on so that you can send it to the insurance assessor.
Make a list of any fixed extras such as solar, xtra batteries etc. I managed another £500 by citing these to the assessor.
Remember the agreed excess will come off whatever they offer.

It will feel a bit like a bereavement initially but channel it towards sorting it out, clearing EVERYTHING out of the lockers that isnt fixed. You will probably get a better payout than trade-in offer plus a better deal with no trade in.
We ended up regarding our write off as a bonus rather than a loss!

Good Luck

Barry

this..now the dance with insurance...thatll be fun!!
Certainly will.
The tree is all but dead and they'll say it should have been removed.... And decline any claim.
Clain off next doors house insurance.....their tree, they're responsible.

Nope, our tree, and it was fine, some dead lower branches but above that really healthy, too healthy really as it put on a lot of growth in the last few years, which is why i was goingbto get it topped this autumn
Tree surgeon chap has been and said the same. But quite a few big trees in this area got ripped out by the roots (litteraly) during the storm on tuesday.
Certainly will.

It's his own tree! 🤪

Seriously, what an awful thing to happen BUT I suggest you ask Jim to remove this thread and also get everyone to remove everything anywhere else that it's been posted about where you've mentioned that you were going to do some work on the tree ...

Insurers will search for info if there's gonna be a big pay out so don't give them any opportunity to pass the buck.

So far insurance have been good, once they understood we had a tree IN the van not some damage from a tree, and they now get that it is a write of its gone straight to their recovery and salvage specialist who will be coming to pick up next week sometime with a low loader. Once weve agreed a figure with recovery lot insurance will pay out apparently....been told is a very easy process...hmm...

Done a file already with list of all the add ons...hadnt realised how many extra gubbins wed put in/on!!
Been scouring the web for similar vans and there's only 2 in the whole country for sale right now of same model and specs...and for more than i thought which could be a bonus in the haggling stage.
Im kinda miffed that its happened but at the same time im not....its wierd really.
But were probably not going to be replacing it for a while and also treating the write off as a bonus like you did, for us its been a bit of a shall we/shan't we for ages and now its done...for the time being;)

tree was fine, conditions were extraordinary, theres another 3 or 4 close by that got uprooted too, all of them fine and healthy. But when you add lots of rain, and lots of wind to big trees that are in full leaf its inevitable that a number of them will take a fall.

But i do appreciate the concern :)

I've often thought that as well. What are you really going to do with my registration number thats going to hurt me

Well shit happens and I bet it was one massive shock coming home to that.

You have my best wishes in resolving this successfully in your favour.

it has always been the case that you have to either claim off own vehicle insurance or sue the owner.
+it is his own tree fitter than a buthchers dog .

I wouldn't let it go until emptied & a figure agreed.
.and for more than i thought which could be a bonus in the haggling stage.
If they argue as at present vans are selling far above previous values , just point them to the only 2 for sale & state "Put me back in exactly the position I was in before it happened & supply the identical vehicle" Including all the extras.

Take out anything you want to keep before they collect it, 😉 it gives you better negotiating on the final figure because they are storing it until you agree. 🙂
We had someone run into Janie on a roundabout they kept phoning with stupid offers, I said find me another car like for like or carry on storing it, 😲 after buying another car, we agreed on the price and we kept the car and had it repaired, 😁 but it took 4 months to agree and be paid out. 🤔 Bob.

Don't forget to take 'off' all the bits you added that may not have any value so won't make any difference to the pay out you get but you'll miss once the MH has gone, eg did you fit a nice mirror, coat hooks etc? Did you replace the bulbs with LEDs etc? Its daft stuff like this that you'll kick yourself about afterwards.

Glad no one was hurt, will you keep updating with how things progress with the insurance please?

A friend had hers stolen from outside her home 3 yrs ago & the assessor was horrible. She had a fight to get paid out so always happy to hear feedback.
