Hi Went to the NEC walked around, found a van we liked at Globecar but they would not consider the modifications we wanted to the standard spec.

So we are now considering buying a new van and paying someone to convert it.

There a brand new Ducato on Autotrader from 25K to 30K + vat. Is there anything essentially different about the Ducatos's supplied by the Motorhome suppliers to these on Autotrader?

With VW Crafter or MAN TGE if you are ordering a bespoke build you can specify various electrical interfaces. MAN are particularly flexible when ordering 'options', the salesman that handled my order actually sent me the full options book (over 200 pages of it) for me to browse and order what I wanted. There are of course some options that are not compatible with others.

Can I just clarify which van you bought that came with the plugs for aux items and if you had to order anything particular?
Thanks
Paul
I bought a series 8 Ducato, it was converted by Elddis/Compass (Hymer Group)
I decided to fit a 150w solar panel on the roof (when my previous van had solar installed at the dealers I think Clive the Orangutan did the work, it was worse than shocking workmanship) so I did it all myself.
I wanted a dual output so I could charge the aux batteries and the van battery at the same time with a 75/25% split and was surprised to find the wiring was already there hidden behind the drivers side B post trim, with labeled up plug connectors. Also when I removed the passenger side foot step there were 3 or 4 similar plugs, even one labeled aux heater, and one labeled 'rear a/c' (which I think is a mini bus option ?)
I'm still exploring those as possible mods I may do !!
So it seems that the loom was camper (or mini bus) specific in some ways.
