Hi, we have bought a MiFi device for the motorhome and now need a good data only SIM card for use in Europe. We would like one for about 100GB and preferably no time limit on it or even better able to be topped up when we need it..
Our phones are on O2 but want to use the MiFi as better for streaming TV etc.
Thanks guys 😃

We're just back from 7 weeks away for the Rugby World Cup, and I bought an RWG at £20 per month for 200 gb of data. Worked well and without any issues. Only gripe I had is that I had to email them to advise what I'd used - apparently they're developing an app to do this for the future. I used it for one day in the UK before travelling - just to check it was working! - but then used in northern Spain for a week and then 6 weeks in France. And there were very rare issues with signal. Just make sure your mifi will work with it - that's why we tested in uk first. I read a lot of reviews before going for this, and yes there were some issues, but I followed their simple set-up and had no problems. We used it pretty much every day whilst away, for map reading, music streaming into the van, then also for me to watch strictly and rugby matches we didnt have tickets for. Well worth it. Now I have the sim, I can sign-up whenever I like. I cancelled it on my return, so it cost me £40. Bargain.

RWG Mobile has a sim at £20 per month 200Gb data, which was 100% roaming, but the use abroad has been throttled to 100Gb. I'm pretty sure that was the best deal when this was discussed here recently.
We have that as well. It works ok.

I have always been happy with Popit.
100gb/m/£25
I also think that having a UK sim is the best option IMHO

You'll need a VPN to stream UK TV on a EU issued sim.
When I switched on my VPN, ITV said they had detected that I was using a VPN and blocked me. I switched off VPN and managed to get all my uk tv from then on. Using Popit BTW

RWG as previously stated £20 month on monthly contract 200gb in uk 100gb in Europe have a look on their site they also do one off packages for certain periods. Tesco at the moment have an offer of unlimited for £25 per month and no restrictions in Europe but a 24 month contract. Most i
others have fair use restrictions for Europe. Have a look at Popit who I think don’t restrict use abroad but a little more expensive, or buy a sim whilst abroad.

I think it must depend on where you are and which network you are connected to. We have been getting upwards of 50Mbps with RWG, which I think is EE.
I'm sure your right! We were only passing through France on the way to Spain and were restricted the whole way down. Our network provider was automaticaly selected by my phone and changing it to anouther manualy did not inprove the download speed. This was also the same case for Spain.
Buying a data card in Europe (Spain) immediatley solved the problem. Hopefully, as time marches on the UK will provide better deals for data use abroad. ATM its a racket and too many people are getting ripped off.

Thought was only going be 2023, was when I asked them in the shop a while ago though 🤷‍♂️
think it was 2023 ,,but when i went into tesco last week to get a new deal, the girl said you can use your data abroad for 2024 ,,brilliant, unlimited everything for £9.50 ( staff offer )

I would move to Tesco Mobile but I assume the extended offer means to the beginning of 2025. That is less than 14 months away and they want you to sign up for a 2 year contract.

Popit's been mentioned ..... NB once you've used it in the UK long enough, you can 'pause' that one at £1 a month, on the monthly anniversary of the contract, so cheaper than SIMS you pay full price each month.

I’ve got a Tesco SIM in my phone - unless their Fair Use policy has changed, it may be unlimited roaming data in terms of volume but maybe not in terms of time? Their policy says something like a maximum of 8 weeks roaming at a time - after that they may give you a fortnight notice before charging. That would add up to 10 weeks, and I don’t think that in practice they generally implement it. But it is something to be aware of if you are planning on making maximum use of your 90 day Schengen allowance

RWG sim in Huawei mifi. Just back from three weeks in Portugal and Spain (and UK!). TV on most nights, via Firestick, able to watch all UKTV channels without VPN. No problems, other than no way to check what data has been used! Rwg apparently revising their app which will enable this. I'll keep the sim for £20 a month as can use TV anywhere without ariel etc. Will enable me to downgrade my phone sim so the total cost won't be far from the £25 I was paying for "ultimate Oomph" with Virgin...

Using RWG, but euthanasia the Global SIM, for £28/ month) to be able to get data while in Norway (the standard SIM only works in EU). Worked great and mobile signal fantastic in Norway even in the deepest, most remote, mountainous fjords.

Now in USA/Canada. Cell coverage generally poor here. RWG worked OK in Canada, on the Rogers network, but not at all in USA. It connects to the T-Mobile network but only on 2g. Gets speeds of 0.2mb if I'm lucky. Support unable to help!

Popit 100Gb £25/month but you can pause it for £1/month when you aren’t using it. Just used it all over Europe - currently in Spain!

I have a Popitmobile with Euro roaming. 100gb for £25
Likewise. Good service BUT you cannot use it 100% roaming and benefit from the option to freeze for I think £3 per month without using a decent slug of UK data. if you also intend to use in the UK, it’s a good option and their ever improving app allows you to monitor your usage. Runs on the EE network..

Popit; see my earlier comment regarding the need to use a decent amount of data in the UK.
we also bought a Vodafone Sim in Spain when we were there Sep/Oct which was 20 Euros for 100 GB with a bonus 40 GB (20 GB only outside Spain). Only need to provide a passport number so easier than France. Data expires after 1 month and you can top up online.

We’re in Spain at present, bought a payg Movistar sim on special offer with 140gb of data for 30 days for 20 eur. I’ve got a vpn home to watch bbc and it’s working a treat.

just went into Movistar shop and was out in 30 mins.

Thanks everyone for the advice…can’t believe a simple thing is so difficult to get!

The https://tiekom.com/internet-at-home/data-sim/ sim recommended above looks good, but can you buy in UK, as we don’t have a foreign address to get it sent to us. If it’s sent to your home in UK it does seem a good solution.
Hi, as others have i’m sure yes you can. Great customer service as well.

It is worth checking whether all of the countries that you want to visit are included. I found myself without a connection in Switzerland using an otherwise satisfactory O2 SIM card because Switzerland was not in their list of European roaming countries.

Our contracts for our two phones are with Vodafone who now restrict roaming to 25gb a month and at a ridiculous daily rate of £2.25 or £15 for 15 days. Won’t be renewing at the end of the contract.
As we stream all of our TV and use a lot of data we have two Poppit sims that we just pause when we get back home.

What VPN do you use I tried several earlier in the year and they all buffered extensively when watching BBC or itvx and my line speed was over 600 mbs so not that.
