DAMP DAMP DAMP

Got rid of our Imala 730 after it came back with 40% damp behind the driver area apparently it's the beading on the outside and it was 2 years old , I didn't want to take the risk of it coming back and having to pay for it myself .
Where did you “get rid of it”?

Thanks for your sympathy guys , I still want to carry on motorhome but I have no confidence in this one
if I buy another what brand do I go for and which dealer ?
Dethleffs. We have had fifteen with no problems.

Don't confuse warranty with your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act. These rights take precedence over and above any warranty or guarantee you may have with the manufacturer. It is ALWAYS the responsibility of the dealer to put things right. Even years down the line (if they sold you something faulty).

You do not have a contract with the maker. No matter what the dealer says, it is their responsibility to put things right, if that means the maker has to be involved it is up to the dealer to liaise with them.
I had the same issue with 12 volt planet. They kept telling me it was up to Victron to sort. I pointed out in the end that I wasn’t making a warranty return and wanted it sorting under the sales of goods act.

To be fair to them, they sent a new inverter the same day.

My motorhome still In Grimsby now lol

I had I mala 730 - Loads of damp on second habitation check, eventually sorted but then I sold it. I believe PVC ,s are less prone to damp than the larger motorhomes so thats what I have now. Saying that Ive had skylight leaking and taps failing on my swift PVC . Sometimes you cant win. And Swift are as difficult to deal with as Auto trail.

Can't believe that people don't read comments and reviews of vans.Certain manufacturers names and certain dealers aftersales have been prominent on so many forums for a few years and still people deal with them..Feel so sorry for them but please do your homework..BUSBY.

Even Hymers leak. Our B544 leaked around the roof window above the bed whilst we were doing 8 weeks around Europe. Only noticed it when wife saw a small stain on the ceiling one morning. Luckily I could open it climb out clean the old sealant off and reseal. Lasted till we got home when I removed the whole window and re fitted it.

I’m selling it when it’s been fixed and need to researche which is the best one to get for around my budget of around £52000 any recommendations guys ?
That's a decent budget. We went for a Burstner after getting rid of our leaky AT and very pleased with it. Only sold it as our requirements changed and now waiting for a new Rapido. Choice of dealer just as important as choice of van. We've had good experiences with Premier and Southdowns if you are Southern based. Good luck

I don't mean to sound crazy but what's the normal moisture readings of a auto trail???

Oh that's good, as I was a little concerned as mine is in double figures at 12

But it's been stood for a while and not always heated

Our 2018 Comanche during our 3 years of ownership has been damp free, readings between 6-9% at all 3 habitation checks and done by independent as well as supplying dealer

I’ve dealt direct with Autotrail, speak to Claire, and they’re aftersales has been 100% exemplary, i simply cannot fault them.

Al 👍

Why do people buy certain makes of van that constantly come up on these forums with problems. Damp problems especially.

Have you tried buying any make of van ? They all have problems 😁 unless you do a self build👍 then you know who's to blame 😁😉

and why do people think only certain makes of vans leak

the only make i’ve not heard having damp issues are Morelo and that’s probably because I don’t know anyone who owns one

Al 😉
