PAH.... W****rs!
Can you give me the name of the garage please, in private if not allowed, and give me a few more detail if any.... I love writing comments when it must be done!
No idea who it was , it was the campsite staff who did the calling.

Gŕrrrrrrrrrr

Bloody thing is back losing power at low speed. Fuel filter replaced and a second seal..

Now hoping to get to montpellier to a big Fiat Professional garage, they could be open Saturday, I'll try, otherwise we will have to camp up near montpellier and await a slot.

I'm severely FFFFFD OFFF

Thats crap! I feel for you👍
Try not to get too worked up. Find a place to stop and have a glass a wine and try and chill.
You will get it sorted👊

False. It can happen when under “full” load only. When the engine requires more fuel than the semi blocked filters can deliver.
Ok. So why does it only do it after a halt then setting off uphill.....why doesn't it happen at every steep hill when the engine is under load?

I'm really getting fed up, stopped at a motorhome desert to get the cartridge replaced, turns out its a faulty tap.

I'm going to montpellier on Saturday morning, then take the van in on Monday, thanks to yodeli

Dave

You are really going through some problems at the moment. My sympathies.

Hang in there to come out at the end of the tunnel.

Morning John, its weird. It can go all day at 55mph on a motorway. Then suddenly if driving at slow speeds in town or up a small incline, power goes.

I suspect the fix in the garage was a botched job, they fixed it very quickly. We are booked into a Fiat Professional garage, I suspect its the fuel filter again, apparently its a well known issue/problem.

Let's see if this lot can fix the problem, even if it requires replacing the whole filter system , we can't continue like this..

Every trip is a worry and we still have about 1000 miles to go to get to Gibraltar, then all the way back.

Oh yes the leaking tap, wasn't the cartridge, it's the tap itself.
When we get to Gibraltar I'll ask my cousin to fund a plumber to replace the whole unit.

Never had this issue on the 2.8l Rapido.

i wonder if it could be contaminated fuel

Where the tap leaking from, mine leaked from the swivel on the main body, I stripped it out and put silicone grease on the seals and that sorted it.

If you're sure, really sure, you're not touching the brake while accelerating (see earlier post) have you checked the wiring / connectors on the accelerator & brake pedals? If an electronic throttle then a sticking or duff potentiometer on the gas pedal could cause it, or a brake switch not fully coming off due to grease / fluff etc. Worth spending 30mins just checking all is well down there.

In the vans paperwork was the details of the previous owner, so shifty being shifty contacted them by email and asked a few questions to which they replied..

'We noticed a very small oil leak which we reported to Fiat camper assist, who weren’t interested as we hadn’t actually broken down, but xxxxx knew it needed attention (we used to have a haulage business.)
Eventually we broke down on the autoroute and were towed to the Fiat/Iveco garage in Puget. It emerged that a little o ring had failed, draining the oil from the gearbox. A new gear box, clutch and pressure plate were fitted (after only 1000 miles!).

The only other minor repair was also done on the Côte d’Azur (we go there a couple of times every year.) There was a small leak at the elbow on the fuel filter housing, so they fitted a new fuel housing and fuel filters.'

Thoughts?

The current mileage is 57k..

Went to the garage as arranged.

Their diagnostic kit can't manage a 15 year old van, went to another, he plugged in, could see no faults, but messed about with the pedals , it appears that even the slightest touch to the break pedal and throttle disengage the power, so drove all the way here right foot very careful, so far no issues.

Fingers crossed.

Well done Burgo above.

Dave glad you know and can drive accordingly.

Should save you some fuel also:LOL:

What did the second garage charge you for telling you that you are a Welsh tw*t?

Now relax and enjoy:giggle:

I would change all the filters including the one in the tank. Fuel sloshing about can block a filter then unblock when sloshing about at a different angle. Ask me how I know. Crap in the tank of my old F88 Volvo. Also if your filling up abroad especially Greece fit a water filter you know it makes sense. Hope it’s a cheap fix. So that you can fall back in love with your MH 👍🏼👍🏼🤞🤞🤞🤞

My vans come out in sympathy with your van Dave.
Yesterday it decided to stay in 4th with the shift up light on, couldn't manually change gear or put it back into auto after a mile it sorted its self.
An hour later on a mountain road half way round a hairpin on a 1 in 6 we stop with message No Gears avaliable. After a quick change up underpants, stopping & startng the engine it cleared. Arrived at our destination all sorts of warning messages and lights came up that have never been seen before.

Then this morning gears OK but traction control problem is back, long steep hill out of the carpark van sits there with front wheels spinning and stopping burning rubber on the spot, after a few restarts scrabbled up the hill with the van juddering and burning rubber all the way. After we get on the flat its all OK again but my nerves aren't they are so bad we have ended up on a campsite & decided not to go any further south.

The 1st garage was massive but disappointing, they said they didn't have the technology.

The second looked like two man band, not enthusiastic, but after the compulsory shrug of the shoulders, plugged his laptop in did a bit of fiddling. Announced noting found and when asked for the h bill smiled and said no charge.

What was suggested in earlier posts. Common problem and on older vehicles I have even had it occur on bumpy roads.
Usually addressed by loosening the nuts on brake pedal switch so that it is farther away & not close to the pedal. That's as long as it isn't the type of switch that clips in with no adjustment.

Bang goes the left foot braking technique ala rally style 😊

Anything like the undisputed master of tap dancing on the Audi Group B Organ Pedals, Walter Rohrl?
