Has anyone used CBS Automotives Cambridge to have cruise control fitted to the Motorhome?

We had cruise control on our Saabs at the time I was running my Landrovers. By the time I had driven my Dicovery to the Pyrenees I had one dead leg.
I have looked into fitting it to our current Mk6 Transit but it’s not cost effective. If we ever swap to a newer motorhome I would have it fitted.
Check out NCS systems.. cruise control systems for circa £199... not cost effective???????

Because the Mk6 Transit isn’t full drive by wire it’s not so easy. A friend of mine had cruise control fitted to a VW people carrier that was cable operated. To have that type of system fitted to our Transit would be about £700 last time I enquired.
For now the Transit is comfortable to drive for a reasonable distance so it’s a nice thought for now.

Oh dear a bit like your VAT calculation that comment 😉
Not wanting to derail this thread, here is the link to the VAT thread
Here is an online VAT calculator.

If you run both calculations, you will see we are both correct.
We were obviously taught different mathematical processes.
The end result however, is the same.

Why ?

Speed limiters are very useful.
They stop you getting speeding tickets.

Cruise control is of very limited use.
Borderline unusable in the UK, as our roads have too much traffic
(I would actually suggest in the UK cruise control is actually dangerous)

CC maybe of limited use on tolled motorways in places like France and Croatia where the roads a flat, straight and empty.
And of course in places like the USA for the same reasons.

I have CC in my van and car.
I've never used it in the car as I've not taken it outside the UK
I have used it in the van a few times, but only on the roads where it's suitable

Quite frankly, if when ordering my van they had said you can have CC for an extra £10, I'd have declined as not worth it.
I used CC on my car down to Cornwall a month or so back. It was late at night and the roads extremely quiet and did the whole journey bar the junctions and smaller A/B roads all on CC. So much more relaxing.

Incorrect as you said VAT on fuel @ £1:50 a litre is 30 pence which was wrong.

Sorry Welsh geordie, I cannot help with question regarding CBS.

What I will say is 100% get CC fitted or fit it yourself, it’s a different world with it.

For those of you who struggle with CC because of traffic conditions, look further ahead than where you are looking and anticipate better, see things early and react early, honestly, it’s a doddle when used properly.

I rarely use mine, certainly in the UK. I have used it bit 'over there' but I don't think I turned it on this year. Usually have to read the handbook to refresh myself on how to do it.

Hi WG

Have you had CC fitted yet?

I’m in Bedford and interested in any feedback.

There is a fitter in Market Deeping called Alex - some members have used him and I’m thinking of using him.

Seems to work mobile without any premises, as he said doing jobs was dependent on it not raining.

Kind regards,
Peter.

Sorry can’t answer the OP question, but can say that I’ve an aftermarket system fitted and couldn’t be without it now. No more right dead knee and hip and use it as low as 20 in certain areas.

Obviously one size doesn't fit all from what I read in this thread, we have Adaptive cruise control and without doubt for us it's a game changer, totally fabulous you never have to worry about braking, perhaps those that don't like it should change their driving habits.
You have to have a different mindset and be aware of what is ahead of you so that you don't get caught out behind that lorry on the motorway but surely you do that if not driving with Cruise Control anyway.
The only downside which can catch you out is if you are driving along a duel carriageway behind a car coming up to a round a bout and you have the speed set at 60mph, suddenly the car in front moves over into the outside lane to turn right, unless you make a change your car now see's a clear road and of course will start to accelerate, not the best scenario entering a round a bout.
