Has anyone used CBS Automotives Cambridge to have cruise control fitted to the Motorhome?

No, but why not fit your own.
I bought mine from NCS and fitted it a couple of hours as it's not complicated.

Why ?

Speed limiters are very useful.
They stop you getting speeding tickets.

Cruise control is of very limited use.
Borderline unusable in the UK, as our roads have too much traffic
(I would actually suggest in the UK cruise control is actually dangerous)

CC maybe of limited use on tolled motorways in places like France and Croatia where the roads a flat, straight and empty.
And of course in places like the USA for the same reasons.

I have CC in my van and car.
I've never used it in the car as I've not taken it outside the UK
I have used it in the van a few times, but only on the roads where it's suitable

Quite frankly, if when ordering my van they had said you can have CC for an extra £10, I'd have declined as not worth it.

Use ours on every trip in our MH both in the UK and abroad. (y)

Utter tosh. Cruise control is very useful on British roads, I've just come 80 miles up the M1 this afternoon and used it about 80% of the time! As you obviously don't use CC I think you're in a poor position to comment on its use. As for it being dangerous, words fail me.

Totally disagree. I wouldn’t dream of not having CC. I use it all the time in the U.K. and would even get sciatica without it.

Thanks for the comments. I use CC on my car in the UK . I want it on the MH for travelling in Europe.
The question was has anyone on here used CBS Automotive Cambridge to fit CC. Or can you recommend anyone else in East Anglia.
I have been recommended to use Dave Newell LVS from Telford. That’s a bit far to travel if I can get it done in East Anglia.

I drive everywhere on cruise, adjusting speed with it too, up and down.. once drove from Swindon to Scorrier in Cornwall completely on cruise…😆
I use it in the car always . But not in the van as its was never fitted thought about carrying a cut down broom stick though

Cruise is very handy on our roads. It stops you speeding when eating a sandwich or on the phone.
Seriously though I've just been to Newcastle and back today and I reckon I used mine 80-90% of the time except when the road was busy at the Angel and M62 29-25.
very easy to retrofit to your average motorhome

i also would not want to be without cruise. wouldn't use it on really congested roads apart from very short periods to rest the foot.

Got a speed limiter on the van never use it. Tried it, found it awful, when pulling out of a village on the slip road onto the bypass put me foot down, went onto panic mode thought the engine had died.

As for cruise use it all the time abroad and it the UK, useful to keep to speed limits through towns.

For the OP as Two on Tour says dead easy to fit yourself.

I confess I am not a big fan of CC and never use it in the car.

I don’t feel as though I am in full control when using it.

I also think it’s potentially dangerous with an older driver. If that driver has a medical episode when stuck at 70 mph there won’t be any braking if there is a traffic queue up ahead.

(I would actually suggest in the UK cruise control is actually dangerous)
That would only be because most of the half wits driving do not have the ability to maintain a steady speed, forever wandering up & down.
I drive everywhere on cruise, adjusting speed with it too, up and down..
so do I.

Recently I have hired 2 motorhomes, both were automatics and both had cruise control which I used extensively, my car has cruise control and I use it all the time, 30mph roads keeps me on the right side of creeping up and getting caught.
Will be buying a motorhome soon and cruise control/automatic are two of the things I would want.

I think as it appears to be a relatively simple job to install, it's unlikely that who is used to do it (assuming you're not comfortable doing it yourself) is going to be an issue. It's probably going to be predominantly based on location.

To add my bit to cruise control, I use mine all the time also in both the motorhome and car and, in fact, Tesla (my car) recommend its use as much as possible as it offers the highest efficiency.

I disagree for both Moho’s and cars.
I use CC all the time on roads in the UK (motorways, dual carriageways, A roads etc).

Works a treat - less stressful, more relaxing. Yes to do need to be quite vigilant- if driving with no CC you automatically ease off the accelerator when yo close up on the vehicle in front, but it is all about anticipation…

So I say go for CC

Adaptive cruise control is the best thing since sliced bread IMHO. It takes all the hassle out of motorway driving fir me.
I’ve been using it for 6 years with a Golf and have a couple of quibbles with it. If you come up behind a lorry doing 30kph less than you and don’t get out early it “sees” the lorry and wants to slow you down. So, ok, you press the accelerator to override but it is a bit clumsy. Secondly if you latch onto a car in front (and I usually add 10 kph to keep in touch if it speeds up a bit) and then it slows down without you noticing and you find your speed has fallen right off. Bit of a first-world problem though!

Oh dear a bit like your VAT calculation that comment 😉

We had cruise control on our Saabs at the time I was running my Landrovers. By the time I had driven my Dicovery to the Pyrenees I had one dead leg.
I have looked into fitting it to our current Mk6 Transit but it’s not cost effective. If we ever swap to a newer motorhome I would have it fitted.
