Hi. Are you both stopping at the Little Satmar campsite near Folkstone on the Friday evening. We are and so are some of the others on the tour.
If there is anything you are unsure about then give me a shout, that's if you have not picked up the tips and tricks on this site.
Yes we're at little satmar. Not sure what time we'll arrive but hopefully not too late.

They seem bloody expensive. :Eeek: What are you getting apart from ferry crossings for those prices?
It is more expensive than if we booked ourselves but we've not travelled abroad with our RV before and decided a tour guide was right for us. Bob and Wendy are really experienced and lovely people. If you could see the 81 page fully itemised itinerary you would understand that we get a lot more than just ferry crossings. Like old soldier I'm sure we will meet some great people who are travelling with us and it will add to the experience. Bob and Wendy toured Europe for 3 years independently and are really familiar with the Provence region of France so I'm sure we will see places we probably wouldn't find ourselves had we gone alone. I don't think we will regret doing this, maybe not do it again but you never know.

Have a great time, we toured Western USA with a group and it was lovely to know you had some backup when needed. Our group of 23 still email each other with suggestions for holidays and routes. It's a nice change!
Plus we had great communal BBQ s
Enjoy it

Well only one week to go now before we set off on the ferry. The last month or so seems to have flown by so hope things slow down a bit in France!!! Weather looking good, really looking forward to meeting up with fellow travellers and having a good time....:happy:

Just read the PDF itinery-Yes it will give you a 'Taste of Provence' we would reckon on 3mths at least to do all that.:)
Provence, and S.W France is an area to 'experience' not dash around ticking places off a list as being 'done'.
We had an experience of guided tours in Cuba, dashing here, there and everywhere. When we got to Havana for 4 days and were told we'd be seeing a great list of things,we said "enough" and against the tour leaders advice we spent our 4 days wandering around Havana finding lovely bars where the locals went, listening to fabulous music, dancing, eating, drinking etc.We did everything we were advised not to do,and had a really memorable time.(y)

Hi both. Thanks. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of 3 months away at any one time due to commitments at home. As you say, it is a taster and as we have never been all the way down that way in the van before it will give us the chance to see what the area is like with a view of going back some day, as well as meeting some new friends. We will also be doing our own thing (or with others) as there are no "fixed" itineries, something we had on a previous escorted tour and were not too keen on.

Well here we are at last. All heading off to Folkstone tomorrow, tour starts properly at Dover docks on Saturday morning. Thunderstorms predicted, good start!!
I will post a few times whilst away so for anyone interested keep your eyes peeled.
Van is all ready to go, grey water vale open, petrol in jerrycan, dog barking recorded on boombox, and Les has her loud screeching cough for everyone to hear. Should be fun!!!!:coolest:

Enjoy! I'm excited for you:D, looking forward to any updates(y)

Hope you have a great time , and will hopefully meet up with you at the camp site .
should be there around 4 ish.

We're ready too. Just waiting for Allan to get back and should be leaving home about 12.30 today to arrive at site early evening I guess. Can't wait for the thunderstorms tomorrow! Hope it's not while on the ferry as my sea legs aren't great

Weather in Europe is fantastic at the moment too so am really looking forward to some warm relaxing days and a glass or two under the canopy.

We'll post updates en-route.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone later.

Not a good start! Long delays on M26 this afternoon. We were stuck for about 2 hours where M26 joins M20, lorry tried to leap the barrier on slip road. At long last we are now all gathered at a site near Folkstone. Allan and Loren just arrived.
Catching ferry in the morning......

We are now at Camping du Pont d'Avignon. A large campsite on an Island in the middle of the Rhone at Avignon. Spent a couple of days here enjoying the sites and relaxing by the pool

Tomorrow we head further south to Aix-en-provence, a short hop of only around 50 miles so we will all be spending time at various places sight seeing on our way down.

Will report again in a few days. regards. Pete and Les :whew::whew:>:)>:)

P.S. Not a generator, dog, child, moaner or argumentative funster in sight.....Luxury!!

Having a great time been to some great places, just come back from the bar with Old Soldier (Pete) and putting the world to rights. Weather 30 + degrees plus really need to do this full time....who needs a job when you can live like this. Posting some photos in a mo. If you've not been down this way you really ought to come down its heaven with a lot of wine....hic!!!! As Pete said earlier we have had a couple of hic ups the biggest one stopped at an Aire for a coffee came to start the engine and it wouldn't, tried everything so called AA and very simply a loose connection with the engine immobiliser got it started straight back on route. While I was sorting out engines doing the man thing Loren was sunbathing......you've heard of Aires Rock well she's discovered Aires Tan. Few pics attached.
