Well we travel to Spain every year with no issues but this time feel like complete novices! Plan was to go to Ireland with dogs with EU passports. Nearly caught out because going to the Irish Republic, the dogs NEED a tapeworm tablet within the 24hour-5 day time frame recorded in their EU passport. Fortunately found accommodating vet and completed at 9am today. Now all set to go to Ireland and then ferry booked to Spain To attend wedding in Porto. However we are driving home through France and we haven’t got a ’Crit Air’ sticker and now too late to apply for one!!! (Doh)
My question is how challenging is it to drive from Spain through France without one??? Looking at a Crit Air map the zones appear to have expanded and we don’t want to incur a fine.
Any advice would be appreciated-currently feeling this trip is a bit doomed!!!

If anybody manages to buy one over the counter so to speak please post it as mine is now 5 years old and could do with replacing

I find it's always good to be courteous, even if you don't agree or have a different opinion about something.

I,m resident in france, the stickers are not a permanent requirement for major cities. when the polution is high they activate the overhead signage telling you what categories of crit air cars are allowed into town. as the temperatures are reducing the polution is less and therefore the restrictions are used less often

Last year, I discovered by chance that my German green 4 sticker wasn’t good enough for France after driving many years from Germany to Portugal for winter.
I ordered the relevant sticker easily over the internet with the French authorities. It arrived by post in less than a week and was less than €6 including postage.
Why is there so much fuss over something so cheap and easy to obtain or have I missed something?

Isn't it valid for the life of the vehicle?

After all, you won't be changing the engine or Euro status.

Only if you replace the windscreen and can’t peel it off. Or, of course, if you replace the engine…

Yes it is but mine is a bit ragged after enthusiastic window cleaning
