The inner Perspex window on our Motorhome Hab door has developed a 6 inch crack. The outdoor window is bonded glass and is fine.
I asked the dealer to repair it for us. Here is a copy of the reply.

Good afternoon,
We have had a quote back from the factory today in relation to your habitation door window.
Fusion will not send us a window kit only; they have quoted for a new door. The cost of this would be £3,865.00 plus VAT and fitting.

Any other options?

I think I would be cutting out the original window with a dremel type tool leaving about 5mm edges all round, smooth off and a slight chamfer, a good old hoover and wipe with tack cloths and then bonding a fresh bit of perspex on, cost about £15 time 2 hrs max

Clemmo If it's like mine it's bonded flat onto the outer door skin and is also double glazed. It's an easy job to do if you can get a replacement. They come from the manufaturer in Germany but Leisurespares can only get certain ones . If you give them the numbers printed on the window they may be able to get you one.

I don't think there is a invisable fix out there.

These are my numbers.

Caravancrazy quoted me £495 + vat and it would have needed cutting to shape.

While I was researching it was mentioned that it may be possible to claim on your insurance.
Yes..
I think Insurance is the way. Once I have a known solution, door or window, I will speak with them.(y)

Thank you!.... I am seriously considering this idea. I like it!
I could certainly try and if it fails take the expensive option.

If I cut it out and bond in a new piece I could cover where in bonds on the face of the perspex with black 25mm tape...probably taping the perspex pre bonding. This way you would not see the join from inside or outside. Key thing will be to get a perfect perspex shape.... so will template it first with 5mm ply.

if youre going down that route, why not get a clear piece of perspex first and try and match the contour of the existing by using a hot air gun and pressing the sheet against the existing? if you watched the series on glamping with johnny vegas, he had a guy making a screen for a helicopter using the same process of heating and shaping .....

there's a company in Colchester who sell perspex cut to exact size, they advertise on ebay i think.

Thank you...perspex seems readily available. I will have to cut it myself because the corners are radiuses.
Just checked..its in Wickes and B N Q.
First step, get perspex. 2 get correct shape...3 make the decision:unsure:
