Just as reference really , we've just had our pre return to the uk vet visit (worming and paperwork)
Cost for today 43€ at Nuefchatel.
Hope this helps someone else with working costs out .

That's expensive! We're using the vet at Buchy and it will be a lot less than that for our 3 dogs combined. Mind you we got ripped off once at a vet in Boulogne Sur Mer when we were charged €107 for 2 dogs.

I wouldn't worry, the cost for returning is neglible compared to the cost of the AHC on the outward journey unless you have an EU Pet Passport.

That is expensive, we don't pay that much for two dogs. To avoid being ripped off avoid vets near the channel ports.

I guess thats why i started this thread - it's our first time out so we didnt know any better .
I'd heard people on here say they'd used the vets at Nuefchatel for this before so thought it would be about right ....well i guess we'll know for next time .
I agree the AHC is a total rip off and we've got an EU passport for the dog now while we've been out .

I suppose it also depends on the size of the dog. Yoshi was 35kg when we went to Austria last year and I think the return worming/documentation was about €35 if I remember correctly.

Yes it does depend on the dog's size as that determines the amount of worming tablets/meds they need but that should still be less than the OP paid but as we know some like to cream it.

Last year I used a vet in Caudry, just south of Cambrai, and one in Oradour sur Vayres, both of which were around that sort of price. Without checking i think the second was slightly higher. The cost is inflated by insisting on doing a cursory “health check” before administering the medication.
The vet in La Mailleraye sur Seine had a sign on the door when we walked past whilst staying there en route to the tunnel, after having the treatment done in Oradour, stating €17 for return to U.K. dog worming, but I understand from others that booking well in advance is advised, so no good if like us you don't have a fixed itinerary.

€18 at La Mailleraye using our own tablet last October but best to book ahead, also avoids Rouen by going over the Pont de Brotonne.

Our Taz is just under 10kg .
Our Taz is pushing 10kg as she's a bit of a heffalump now but Minky and Bella are way under.

I've just booked the vet at Buchy for Saturday morning prior to our return on Sunday so will report back what the cost was but it should be under €30 for all 3 using their tablets.

Thats the trouble when you 'no speako da lingo' its much harder to question it 💁‍♂️.
Must learn french for 'robbing git'

It must be vets everywhere that have a licence to print money .

We used the one in La Fleche last year €10 with own tablet, looks like €19 if they supply.

We were told by our vet back in england that when he went to europe last year they refused to give his own tablet and insisted on selling him another.

It had gone up to 19:50E with own tablet when we went last October and there was a sign in the window with another price increase.

People tend to recommend that vet as they speak good English and it is handy for the campsite.

There was very little english spoken yesterday ...

The online booking system was easy enough and the service i couldn't fault , just obviously not cheap .
We'll be looking for recommendations later in the year when we come out again. 😉

We have paid as little as nothing, as vet said no charge, to about €165, when the Belgium vet put the wrong info and we had to have an emergency appointment where a new vet just put the correct date. So remember to always check the info (was early days of PP for us), and also pay by card, or get receipt.

We rarely book, and find English doesn’t need to be spoken to get the job done, and most of the time pay about €30. I’m not willing to waste my holiday time hunting out a cheap vet to save €10.

We used the vet at Buchy on Minxy recommendation. Used our worming tablet (we get them as part of the plan we have with our vet).
Was €23 plus a Laughing cow cheesy triangle !
Spent a quiet night in the free aire by the police station and sports ground

We get worming tablets with our pet plan thing but not tape worm i dont think ?

Ours are Droncit tapeworming, every 6 months, we also get Advocate ticks and fleas every month.
When completing your new PP make sure they put the time in as well as date. I asked them to put it on my AHC as well as belt and braces!

Ours had just had a tapeworm tablet before we came out because she'd never had one before . Was never given as a pup for some reason .
We also get Droncit apparently (y) so hoping the timing falls right next time .

I just kept the tablet until we were due to come back, they are home administered here, that’s where a cheesy triangle comes in handy 🤣. Rosie didn’t have one until she was about a year so had just had the one before we travelled but quite a long time before - over 6 months. I kept hoping daughter would come round and shove it down for me, then once we had decided to travel, I kept it ready.

Be interesting to see what they charge, first time we used the in May 22 it was 5.30€ with no health check but in October 22 it was 27€ and no choice for not having health check ( the vet did have a trainee with her, perhaps that’s why)
I will be booking with out health check next time.

Our dogs have better taste than laughing cow triangles. They like their worm tablets in a bit of ripe camembert, brie, or cambozola.
I keep the best for me 🙂
