Cost of ferries to Spain

The only reason I can see for keeping a BF code secret on here must be to ensure that everyone gets a chance to make a tenner.

If they do I'm surprised they turn a blind eye to folk on here blatantly requesting and passing on the discount code to 'strangers'.

Michelle: "Listen very carefully, I have been given a secret discount code to pass on to you".
Rene: "What is it?".
Michelle: "I cannot tell you. It is a secret".
They certainly do, or did, monitor but there is little they can do unless someone advertises there membership number on an open forum, otherwise we are anonymous behind our user names.

Mikeco and matamoros you have kept the code visable by quoting it now that the op has taken it down.
I quoted his post to draw his attention to the problem, he subsequently had the post deleted. In hindsight I could have blanked the number from my quote but not really my responsibility.

There are plenty of other CV members on here competing with one another
Competition ??? Oh dear. I didnt realise some people took it that seriously.
Oh well

Friendly competition in the spirit of fun and a little occasional banter, did you miss :Smile: on my post.
The point remains that there is never a problem for anyone to obtain a code from members of this forum and the occasional £10 off the cost of CV is handy so if you are up to your limit then you have done well, let other members supply the code and maybe some of us can reach our limit, we are all friends on here........well mostly:Smile:

Has anyone ever done the Toulon to the Balearics? Getting to Majorca and Menorca looking at about €200, for a motorhome and 4 grownups from Corsica Ferries in April, but it involves a long drive to the south of France.

From Majorca, you can then get to Valencia, Barcelona or Denia. Less than €200 for a moho.

Just an alternative for a sea journey to Spain that doesn't cost the earth. I'm considering this route for a four weeker in 2023.

Sounds like hard work and you still have lots of driving. Are those return costs, because if they are not you are in Plymouth-Santander price zone anyway and you have to drive the length of France.

Return in up to 7m MH outside cabin over 4 weeks 1023 (with full CV discount) so if you do one trip a year you are already better off, 2 trips and you are well away.

I have to say that I don't envisage ever needing to get the ferry to Spain (I live in Farnce) but IMO that is quite steep, and I am guessing the drive down would be much cheaper, that said if you have time constraints then every day counts and it would be worth the money.
Horses for courses and all that

Depends on your POV really.
I like driving in France and the idea of going to the Balearics in the bus would be worth it.

So its either that or down to Sicily. Italy will probably win.

The drive down is a bit cheaper. I agree with your other sentiments.

We are not retired so we need to get to Spain asap to make best use of our holiday. So yes, horses for courses. We would love to porter all the way there but it would be time to come back when we got there.

We always treat ourselves to the top of the range cabins (which cost nearly as much as the basic fare) but we make it a big part of the holiday.

Interestingly one of the posh cabins is called
Le Isle de Man.

I agree 100%
We have been using the St NMalo Pompey crossing for yonks aand always have a cabin and slap up meal in the al le carte restro, watch the show, usually drink a bit too much, get up early for breakfast, and generally treat it like a good night out and (as you say) like part of the fun.
I wont travel by ferry unless I can go overnight and with a cabin because I don't want to waste valuable day time sat on ship (I do that for a living)
I am aware that day crossings are cheaper but I just budget for a bit extra expense and turn the journey into a bit more fun.

If you join Brittany Ferries Voyager Club you get 30% discount on crossings which more than covers the cost joining in one trip
Its not expensive to join (imo) and been member for 15 years or more.

I end up with a tenner credit voucher which one can accrue to a max of 150 quid in a year and use to offset against a ticket.
It's a win win, although at the price you quite full membership would probably save you more dosh.
Conditions and discounts have changed for new members..BUSBY.

Yes. Its great.

I love the fact that

1) You are travelling as you sleep
2) You can have a few drinkypoos and have time to sleep it off in the morning with the help of a full breakfast
3) We genuinely look forward to the ferry trip

When we did Corsica with the caravan we went overnight there and back for same reasons.

Second to last crossing we did was Plymouth to Roscoff to cycle the Velodyssee down towards Spain. As we were travelling light and going to be camping for much of the trip, I thought I’d splash out on a ‘deluxe’ starboard side cabin with a balcony so we could enjoy a few glasses watching the sun go down. A fine early summers evening and all going to plan until we were a few miles beyond the Plymouth breakwater - then solid fog all the way over! Oh well, down to the bar!

😁😁 Bit longer than that for me.
Shame they have reduced the benefits for new members though.
Oh well it has saved myself and family and friends (and um internet acquaintances) thousands over the years with sometimes 15 or 20 crossings a year.
