I used to use a local calor gas supply business for my 13kg and 6kg propane refills. Aside from the issues during covid, they generally have availability.

However, recently they have been a bit hit and miss so after a search I found and Agricultural Engineering firm who stock Calor.

The big shock was price difference… :-

Gas supply business: 13kg - £62.25, 6kg - £45.59
Agricultural Engineers: 13kg - £47.82, 13kg - 28.27

Both have overheads and costs but even so…..

If there's a Energas welding supplies I would ask there for a piece they do calor I think 🤔.
I thought (so may be wrong) Calor set the price and the outlets charge what Calor says. I use the hardware store in next village I payed £28.something last week for 6Kg cylinder. I used to work for BOC and it was cheaper using Calor even with staff discount.

I paid £28 for a 6kg Calor refill for my daughter's new van at my local garage in February. The owner remarked that it was a lot more than I would pay for my refillable: £8ish.
I think the dealership wanted over £65 for a new Calor contract.

I think (but happy to be corrected) Calor don't actually fix a price but rather set a range within which the retailer can set their price.

Thats very good! LPG at 99p per litre (which many places are now) would be £26

The chap at the African engineers also said that Calor are lifting their prices at end of April.

They have changed their minds and are continuing to supply the small 3.9 kg propane and the 4.5kg butane cylinders but these will be a 28% price increase….

many many years! since I was a kid
Calor spent too long with a near monopoly and have not stopped ripping customers off. With the closure of many calor depots, I can see them losing market share at this rate. Totally out of touch with the cost of LPG in the free market

I've paid £24-£24.40 for every 6kg propane exchange for last 3 years....this seems good? We are in northeast like!
