Coronavirus Briefing at 11.00 am today

So many people criticise everything done, including many different 'experts' via different press agencies, nobody has, to my knowledge, has come up with any specific alternative ideas other than negative comments on what Boris et al has done. Labour just say what should have been done, in very vague terms, e.g more testing - better tracing but no concrete ways to achieve this, many people including some I know say they don't give tracing details as they don't wnat to know or can't afford to isolate. I agree there should be a review but not in the middle of it all, we should all do our bit otherwise all our MH's will be sat doing nowt for even longer. Rant over !!

The negativity from some is the reason we are headed into a further serious outbreak and I trust that should this virus seriously effect them in some way in the future they will think back over their words.
It seems so many know better, but do they ? :doh:

The rate of infection is doubling every seven days, multiplying exponentially. What does post 25 say that will elevate any of this. What has Germany done. I have spoken to a testing nurse, I asked why the place appears so empty. She said so many people book a test then don't turn up for the test. How can we increase testing when people are wastefully booking a test then not turning up because their headache goes away.

Don’t forget that Boris is only a spokesperson. He doesn’t know everything about all things. And he’s human not a superman.
Yes mistakes have been made, are being made, and will be made.
I have to trust what I am led to believe, the information that is spouted by the government and the media, as I don’t have the brains or the data to come up with a solution.

As I said clear instructions, mask wearing compulsory indoors, increase testing capacity and tracing, I cannot answer the people not turning up part as I do not have any information but maybe they got stuck in a traffic jam on their way to the Aberdeen test centre from Plymouth;). Germany masks are compulsory inside and enforced, told to stand 1.5m apart, everywhere you eat/drink out tracing details are mandatory, and Germany rate is currently low 20's per 100,000 whereas UK 60+ so I think it speaks for itself!!!

It is not about negativity but the trust of the people in those charged with making decisions and so far I do not see evidence of them doing very well.

I watched this live and was under the impression that we were doing rather better tha Germany, France, Spain and Italy, and the reason for such measures as might be applied soon, was to not let us get to these other countries higher levels. 🤔

Unless I am seriously misreading the figures being published?. It would appear that the areas showing the highest increases are primarily those where the demographics indicate a population who's social integration spreads over several generations and large family groupings?. For example how do you apply rule of six to a family of up to ten in the same building?. Then of course you get the party animals who have been congregating in the pubs an bars until the early hours.? Is the answer there to ban the public consumption of alcohol.? I like my wine an beer, but I am aware that it is more easy to get blasé after a few bevys.

I posted a list along with modifications to the furlough rules & self -employed months back. It was quite simple to restrict the public to there homes along with making it mandatory for mask wearing.

Is anyone surprised that the figures have gone up,for one i’m not just go shopping people without masks, on our local beach there have been 3 rave parties all we do when out is on and off the pavement trying to avoid people who walk straight at you and in queue’s are right on your back, no social distancing it’s as though every one thinks it’s over but it’s not

Why not watch boris ? This whole scenario is new for every country , I would like to know who would be in charge besides the elected government ?
 
I watched but felt they were preaching to the converted the ones watching the programme Care enough, but the age of society they are saying spread it won’t be watching as they are at work or don’t care enough.

it scared me as I have to self isolate anyway as I’m having an operation Soon.

Well one difference I see , Nicola sturgeon making decisions knowing it's making her unpopular even with an election coming up that could damage her chances

Meanwhile the clown trying to protect his rich friends and cronies despite not having to worry about an election for a good few years

Far too many loopholes , exceptions etc for people to break or not follow rules

I'd respect them more if they just made a decision across the board and kept to it

Things like not wearing masks in restaurant and pubs but having to wear in shops ....stoopid.

Eating out and getting drunk is not essential

Excepting vulnerable age groups from restrictions if they provide childcare .... stoopid

There's no consistency and a feeling that government is too busy trying to please their supporters than to actually implement the tough decisions needed


You can even see it in this thread those who support the government because of their approach to the b word excusing and defending their every move

It should never be a question of who could do it better or worse etc

It's those who have the power and making the decisions NOW that's accountable and I lost all faith in them back in march

Yep ....with exception of food shopping I've stayed away from any other type of shops , wouldn't go to a pub or restaurant just now ....avoid contact as much as possible ... reluctantly had to go to dentist today but have to say I was impressed at their measures taken

But while I was in town to go there the complacency you see everywhere explains why the numbers are rising

The old saying give an inch take a mile has never been more apt
 
This covid debate isn't a patch on the Brexit row, although there seem to be a similar number of inaccurate statements.
