Cornish Farm, who’d be a site owner.

Electric cable is coiled for storage with a velcro strap. If deployed strap goes onto the steering wheel as visual warning. Solves that problem.

Now if someone can find a visual aid for the drawer and door catches, rooflights, flappy drop down sink, shower that will fall off the hook with a crash onto the shower tray below, cooker hob glass cover and particularly switching the fridge from gas to battery .....
Before you set off onto the open road
Put fridge on gas & elec cable stowed
Lift washroom sink, put showerhead on the floor
Lock all the drawers & every door
Secure all the rooflights overhead
And carefully close the glass hob lid
Do one last check to see nothing's awry
Once everything's sorted … you're on your way!

What drives me *nuts* is when I've been round the van before setting off, done everything, and unbeknownst to me one of the family sneaks up to say the fridge, gets something out, and doesn't lock the damn door again after them.... GGRRRRRR!!!!

This is inevitably discovered not long after setting off when the door crashes open whilst going round a bend......

Lucy drove off with our EHU cable attached the other day. Luckily it just pulled the £11 socket off the wall of the house into pieces and other wise no damage done.

I can’t judge, done it twice at work with the shorelines for the Ambulances. :-(

Driving down the m56 our tv moved off the bracket. Couldnt stop in roadworks wife went back to secure it. I had to slam on the brakes wjfe got flung into the table and damaged her hip. She was screaming in agony and i still couldnt pull over. Same journey pulled up at traffic lights knock on the window. Your garage door is flapping about. Hadnt seen it in the mirrors.
Lesson learned do your checks!

Forgetting the cable is easily done despite best of intentions. When diesel was fast going up in price I hurried out to the yard in the dark and drove off to get to fill up asap. When I pulled in to the garage several miles later I jumped out to fill up and I realised I had been towing 25m of orange cable behind me! That’s despite having a visual symbol on board showing hook up….

I sometimes drape the EHU lead over the drivers' wing mirror as a visual aid.

I also have laminated a fairly comprehensive check list, including things to check before leaving home - set alarm etc. We once went on holiday, and I forgot to shut the front door. My daughter arrived 4 days later to check the house, and the door was wide open!
I did that my neighbours rang me , then walked trough house locked front door from inside and exited through the rear locking it behind them

two bottles of wine lighter ........

Pre flight checks here as well. We have attached a checklist to the passenger dash and one of us reads it out before we move an inch. I walk round then SWMBO walks round. That way, if something is forgotten, we can't yell at the other. Never lost anything so far. Just need to avoid complacency.

Saw a small French camper pull away still attached in Normandy. Woman was driving and the bloke waved her off. She pulled the post half out of the ground. She was upset, he was shouting at her. Mrs DDJC was livid, and wanted to go over and tell him that as he waved her off, it is HIS fault, and to stop bellowing at his poor lady friend. My participation consisted of finishing my glass of cidre and staying out of it.
Like wife was having a go at our Builder , then turned to me and said " your not saying anything " I said " No dear you're doing very well on your own" .😂

So FLT, why use your gas when you have electricity with your site price.;)

Well this FLT would have to buy equipment to use the electricity to heat water and the accommodation, whereas we already have gas appliances for both.

Whether the price of the electricity is built into the price of the campsite or charged separately it would probably cost more than re-fillable gas for the same Therms., partly because VAT and Tourist Tax would be added.

As I’ve mentioned before, on the ambulances the shoreline is used to top up the on board equipment. As soon as the starter motor is engaged, a solenoid engages and fires the plug out of the socked.

Been close with cable and use the wing mirror now.
We have one job each, my wife is cabin crew and I’m ground crew then there is no argument as to who the bigger numpty is when it all goes pear shaped. Lesson learned for cabin crew when cupboard wasn’t closed and a dozen eggs needed cleaned up.

Cabin crew? Check
Ground crew? Check

My Mrs is my visual aid with her extra sensory perception skills!

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.

Trust me, I know….. :-(

At Woodside Field the most common one we see is failure to release the handbrake leaving skid marks on the lawn.:eek::eek:

You should not allow them to park on the lawn, make them park in the field like the rest of us?

I didn’t think you saw me! I thought that I must have settled down a bit after 4 days there when I couldn’t move forwards or back, took a moment to realise …….. :whistle2: :giggler:

It's all recorded so he knows who to send the bill too.

We've never pulled away with the EHU still connected but have lost a doormat when the hab door swung open on a roundabout, left step out, left electric toothbrush plugged in in site washroom, all back in the days when John was driving. This in spite of several laminated lists..... On our trip just gone, now I'm the only driver, John's in charge of making sure everything's properly stowed. Problem is, stuff is often left outside, thus not needing stowing ! This trip we stayed in a couple of hotels overnight to beat the 42° heat. New towels left in bathroom. Stopped to shop, left brand new doormat in carpark. Finally, at the Aire next to the ferry port he left the hook up bag at the bollard and it 'disappeared' overnight ! Still, any excuse to go shopping.....

OK, this is second-hand but from a VERY reliable source (Mrs Gellyneck and she's watching me type this!).

She's sat outside on her chair as I complete my daily housekeeping chores in the motorhome and there's a cry off WHOA from a chap passing behind the motorhome next door to us but tooooooooo late was the cry!

The guy was reversing off his levelling ramps prior to heading off and his EHU cable plug flew out of the connector on the side of his van! Fortunately, the bollard survived.:whew: Obviously he didn't notice this as he continued to reverse over the cable drum it was attached to!

On running over to the cab, the first chap tells him what's happened and the response he gets was, "Oh it's normally the levelling ramps I leave behind". Seemingly he's done it more than once!:whistle2:

And off he toddles, obviously after rolling up the cable and packing his ramps!(y).
