I bought the CoPilot App in about 2016 and used it regularly. I haven’t needed to use it for a couple of years.

It no longer works, I can’t login although it recognises my email address as a customer. Customer support seems non existent. Has this app been discontinued or does anyone have contact details for CoPilot?

Thanks

Richard

I wouldn't be surprised if they've launched new software since, so your "lifetime" license is for a package that no longer exists (even though the new software was really just an update). Yes, it's bit of a con.
I have had CoPilot caravan version for years now, must be well before 2016 and used regularly it still works.

I also have a lifetime subscription to copilot caravan but have used it continuously, have you tried downloading the latest version and signing in with your old details? If it still won't work you should be able to contact them via this page. Note they were taken over by Trimble which was when they changed to a subscription model but they did honour existing lifetime licences.

I had the same problem after the Covid period. I raised a ‘ticket’ and they got back to me within the day. From memory I had to delete the app and reload after they had reconfigured something at their end.

Thank you all for you replies. Those that suggested my product was obsolete are correct but CoPilot have been really decent and sorted it out at 0 cost to me. I have installed a new app and all works. I am very grateful because I like the product.

My garmin satnav is on its last legs and I’m looking for an app to replace it that can work with Apple CarPlay and provides routes based on configurable vehicle dimensions.

Looks like a good number are using copilot, would you recommend it? Any better app options out there?

My Copilot gps app failed while driving around Luxembourg city.I had updated the EU maps before we left UK.Contacted support with the error message(error in storage).
Instructed to remove app and map files and reload all(1.2gb).Tried to reload but I would of been back in UK by time the download finished.

So I tried the free trial of Sygic Caravan/motorhome....faultless and only one blip in a small greek town on Monday.
Will continue with Sygic until our return.
With live traffic updates and 3 year free updates for £48...good value.
I use Google maps for the look up route etc and run it along side but dimensions are more important than saving a few quid.

Thanks 125BEER, I’ll take a look at Sygic. Putting aside the Copilot failure, I take it you think Sygic is the better of the two apps?

I don't think CoPilot supports Apple Car Play or Android Auto, however if you use it on a tablet or phone and set it up correctly with road preferences as well as dimensions and weight, in my case it's been first rate, in the three years I've been using it, it hasn't taken me anywhere I wouldn't want to travel, one thing to note, if your using the navigation option in search for sites and choose CoPilot, make sure it is using the profile you have modified for your vehicle.

I have both CoPilot Caravan and Sygic car version which I use on my motorcycle and used to use in my car, Sygic had a habit of taking me off a main dual carriage way to the roundabout and then sending me back onto the road I just came off, infact i've stopped using it on the bike altogether and use google maps or waze, waze seems to know i'm on a motorcycle and sends me around the twisty roads, Sygic is also always really slow to update the maps in comparison to CoPilot. Just my experiences.

I bought a lifetime sub in about 2016 and can still log in. I think I might have had to download a new app somewhere along the line because the original one no longer worked. I never liked their system much so haven’t used it in a long while but when I logged in just now it twirled on renewing licence for a couple of seconds and then ticked it automatically.

Much prefer my phone and AppleCarplay but no surprise CoPilot have never bothered to make their app compatible. Luddites.

Personally I used both when driving an 18t LPG bulk delivery truck. Also with the motor home.

Both were pretty poor and constantly had me going down roads not acceptable. Despite dimensions and weight input

Personally I use google maps and common sense dimensions and weight input constantly fail on most popular apps

With CoPilot beside weight and dimensions you can enter road preferences, if you set motorways to strongly favour, dual carriage ways to favour, main roads to neutral, secondary roads to avoid, local roads to strongly avoid and routing type to practical it won't take you down unacceptable roads unless there is no other way of getting to your destination.

It seems the problem with all the gps programmes is that they do not have the road width data, so don't know not to send you on a road that's only 2M wide. They know about weight limits and if the road is dirt or tarmac, but that's as far as it goes. Been there, done that 😂

I understand that and probably used it daily with these preferences for an extended period probably more than most motorhome owners would. I still think that they are a waste of time and money and much safer to use common sense and concentrate than following blindly a computer

Well that's another way of looking at it, and perfectly valid, but if a computer can help you while taking away some of the stress of travelling in your home on wheels, then why not?

All I can say is over the thousands of miles i've used it in Europe and the UK since 2016 the only one time it took me on a road I would rather not have been on was because I was inadvertently using the wrong profile, user error, this includes driving a 7.5 tonne beaver tail delivering vertical access kit across London and the home counties five days a week.

I gave up with my Garmin 770 Camper as it is nothing like as good as my Zumo.

I use MyRoute-app on an Android tablet, this allows input of vehicle dimensions.

I've heard V11 is a major update, how are you getting on with it? From what I've seen it now look like a generic satnav. I've always liked the styling of Copilot, hopefully it will still be good!

It's only just updated on my devices yesterday, I've double checked my preferences and they have transferred across okay, i'm not sure I like the map colours but we'll see when I move tomorrow week, i have also turned on live view at junctions to see if that's worth using, I believe it's now Android Auto compatible which will be welcomed by some, and appears to still work on my ancient Samsung Tab 2 which is good for me. Time will tell.

I have just updated to the new app in the hope it is now AppleCarplay compatible. If not it won’t get used. I notice that the speed warning has a minimum setting of +5mph which is totally ridiculous, 5mph over in a 20 or 30 limit is still going to get you nicked.

Pausim would be good to know if the latest copilot does work with Apple car play. I’ve been testing out Sygic on a free trial and so far not overly impressed.

I’ve used it on a few routes I know well and it came up with some odd routing options, definitely not the most suitable roads for a motorhome given the options available… but in fairness probably a few mins quicker and would be fine in a car.

Not sure when I will get a chance to try it out but sadly CoPilot has never impressed me. The +5mph on the speed warning means I am unlikely to change my mind about it.

While not ideal there is a work around for vehicle size route planning via the Tom Tom app which is Carplay & Android Auto compatible.

Using the Web based Tom Tom MyDrive system, Web/app based personal POI / Destination store. It has an option to plan a route via a Web browser with options for vehicle dimensions. You can then save the route in the MyDrive system. These will appear in the app via carplay etc.

Obvious limitation being it's that route or nothing, you can't venture off course if there are holdups etc.

I'm beginning to think the vehicle dimension stuff is a bit snake oil anyway. I've a dedicated Tom Tom Go Camper that still includes random roads that aren't at all suitable. It only gets used on big trips now. Normal Google Maps makes more of an appearance now.

Long term Copilot user, tried others, routing all the similar but I like the Copilot interface and layout. Use it along with common sense and Google maps to check route all works well.

Just updated and the updates are significant will get used to most of them but there a couple of features that just don't work.

I cannot turn off the 2d auto zoom at junctions and also when driving along changes to a close up view thoroughly confusing and the last thing you need when approaching roundabouts or multi lanes junctions. Tried 3d which is slightly better but still zooms in and out at junctions very irritating.

The Active Traffic display is unreadable tiny yellow and red lines useless.

Sadly if I cannot turn off the auto Zoom I shall no longer be using it. Will switch to Sygic 🤔
