Cooking on the road - Inverter question

Call me old fashioned but I don't know why anyone would even consider having something maybe 100 degrees in the 'van whilst on the move. In an accident loose items become missiles at best. Even if cold, a bottle, jar or portable radio could inflict serious injury.
As for having three litres of boiling soup???

As I said, I'm old school.

Ill enjoy the stew tomorrow, after we have arrived.

Just my humble opinion.

I would be more worried about the cooks knives flying around that most of us store in flimsy cupboards which revert to matchwood in an accident.

Why not put the pot in the sink? That way any spills are not a issue. Still have the lid on of course.
That's exactly what we've done in the past, using a loop of silicone cord, twisted left and right at either end, then hooked over the pot handles to keep the lid firmly in place. (y)

Jabstatt. TBH, we've got more chance of being of being whacked on the back of the head by the 2 x granite sink covers in the event of a rollover RTA/RTC, than we have by the slow cooker with it's "roasting bag" ham joint within ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Yes, no reason why not

Shock horror, we cook while travelling, use the loo, even showered in the past
hmmm...were you in the van that crashed when they thought cruise control meant you could leave the van to drive itself while you went and showered/toileted/made a cup of tea/slept...

Van has been set up so when inverter is on it auto switches so all mains sockets in Van are on.

Is it ok to travel like this so can use slow cooker while travelling?
We use inverter whilst driving to charge our powerbank.

Don’t worry in the event of a serious crash, the fridge smacking into the back of your head will kill you before the stew splashes on you👍🏻

Motorhomes with garages have space to pop a slow cooker inside...that's a fairly safe environment if secured well...our bikes charge inside there whilst travelling..supplied by the inverter.... different subject..🚴😃🇪🇺

Reading this thread I realise I am under utilising my van, to be honest, hadn’t even thought of having a shower on the run, what a good idea. Although it had crossed my mind, I have never cooked on the run either. Toilets an obvious one, think that is fairly common, however, wondering what else I’m missing out on, do others sit in the rear lounge and watch tv, play cards, maybe a few hours in bed? Travel mainly solo so guess some things might be a bit tricky, however, prepared to give it a go:giggle:

Wife often has a snooze on the rear bed when I’m on a motorway,

In a Mr D the stew is sealed in a thermal flask and then put into its own carry case. No issues with transportation whatsoever.
