burstner
Hi all
A cry for help, online winge or advice with our sorry tale.

We bought a Burstner IXEO 2019 from a main dealer, north of £80K a few weeks ago.

Returned it a week later as main vehicle battery dying v quickly. Clearly after having extra solar (270Watt) and a new battery master fitted this was not meant to happen. After returning it they said it was a completely dead leisure battery (we have 2), and replaced it….drive away (after a 13 hour day getting this sorted).
Couple days later Van again dead, even unable to jump start. The dealer said replace the main battery as that was now ruined (they paid for this), which we did and all good.
Set off for sunny Spain , driving down all good (as batteries getting good charge on journey). Arrive near Malaga, all good not a cloud in the sky, lovely jumbly and the solar will keep all the batteries nicely charged.…..ummmm
Just been out to the van…completely dead main battery again (11.4volts showing) and won’t start! 😡🤬.
Now in Spain with a dead Moho and it’s the weekend. Will get it sorted/started on Mon by a garage I guess, but my thinking is…
A: The solar/battery master not putting any charge in the main vehicle battery , the leisure batteries are 13.6v
B. The van battery is dying after 2 days…some serious electrical drain (as yes everything off in van)
C. This has damaged the brand new vehicle battery..

is this something seen before, or are Moho‘s always come with these issues….it’s our first one, so really not loving the life at moment!

No inverter…..did take the little Pioneer panel off….not on a site at the moment, or could ask around….left it running for 1hr10mins…will see tomorrow how it is and give it a drive…and will learn the lesson with tools 👍
Quick question where is the pioneer fuse? Under the passenger seat perhaps? Will pull and

The dashboard fuse box, or it was as it left the factory. Removing the faceplate will not stop it from drawing power parasiticly

Sorry forgot to add, only run the engine without driving in an emergency. It can destroy the engine

If it's the same model that Lidl were selling Feb it didn't measure d.c. current but only d.c. voltage and a.c. current..
Must admit I didn't look at it, just saw it on the shelf

Are there wires from the solar controller (load) physically going to the starter battery .if not it won't charge.

I believe that a battery master has been fitted and , if this is the case , it would only need the solar charge to go to the leisure battery , with the battery master taking care of charging the starter battery from the leisure battery. (if it is working )

Me neither, what if you’re stuck in traffic jam and only inching along?
As I understand it there are two things. Firstly, starting the engine contributes to wear due to initial movement of parts before oil pressure and circulation stabilise. Once it's running, wear is minimal. Secondly, starting an engine and running it only for a short while (whether driving or idling) so that it doesn't reach operating temperature can be harmful, because of the corrosive residues that are left if it is stopped before reaching operating temperature.

I haven't hear that merely idling it causes harm. It would be good to know why this is said.

Sounds like that could be the problem, if it a Mercedes sprinter then they do drain batterys
Alot .

Letting an engine tick over and not get hot can clog the DPF.

Do have a trickle charge wired from solar tithe engine battery. I had to have mine wired and and added as do not come as part the usual even with Carthago’s. Also when living with no Extra added elecs, just sunshine and Solar Panels and GPL (LPG) Gas, Inververta, etc we learn to live without TV (even we have one built in) music is on mobile phones. Nothing off the engine battery.
No it’s not boring

Operating diesel engines at light loads for extended periods of time can cause glazing to the cylinder bores. This occurs because poor combustion can lead to soot formation and unburnt fuel residue which clogs & gums up piston rings which causes the piston rings to not seal as well. Glazing of the cylinder bores occurs when hot combustion gases blow past the now poorly sealing piston rings and creates a glaze on the cylinder bore & increased oil consumption. This can lead to oil entering the exhaust, heavy carbon build up on: pistons, piston rings & ring grooves, valves & valve guides, cylinder head ports & exhaust pipes, and turbocharger seals on turbo charged engines.

I've always been use to a dual fridge set up, on my latest van euro 6, cv60, compressor fridge, there is no way to charge the starter battery off the mains hook up, solar panel fitted, that only charges the leisure battery, the starter battery volts decayed, cos it was October, the van was stood around, the van still had new van warranty, they replaced the battery and said what you need is a battery master, I thought, why not fit this as standard, it works perfectly, as done all summer, probably have to keep a check on both batteries in winter, but with battery master mains hook up should take care of them both, I always check the the starter battery voltage regularly under the bonnet it always shows 12 .7 or even more, initially I thought am I going to live with this system but apart from the fridge being noisy at times, you have a night running switch to make it quieter as long you don't forget to turn it over and I did buy a set of jump leads just in case, hope you get sorted.
